On Monday Miss Laity welcomed her first litter into the world! 8 healthy pups - 5 boys, 3 girls. They spend their days eating, napping, and cuddling with their mama while we watch and talk about how cute they are 🥰
All pups are spoken for!

Got roped into helping a couple rookies get ready for their upcoming NAVHDA test. These two are going to make one heck of a duo in the years to come. Every kid should have a hunting dog.

Got an invite from Wayne Booze so we made our first ever hunting trip to SD to shoot some late season roosters. We had the mutual goal of getting my puppy Odin on some more birds and Mr. Odin made the best of the opportunity with 6 pointed roosters in 2 days! He’s turning out to be quite the talented pup and we are already looking forward to next season. Was nice to get together with some other Braques and watch them all do what they do best. Thanks again Wayne!

Decided to pick Seeley up after school today so we could get an extra walk in with the dogs before deer opener. Boy, did it pay off with a 2 man limit just as we were running out of shooting light!

Mr. Odin is on the board with his second species of the season. He had a beautiful point and retrieve this morning on this gorgeous rooster.

Today was a day of firsts. It’s Seeley’s first trip to MT, his first Sharptail and his first Hungarian Partridge. He’s loving life and I’m loving it right along with him.

Team Great Divide got it done today before it got too hot! Even 9 month old Odin got in on the action with his first wild bird point and retrieve.

We made the trip to Iowa this week to run our Sunny girl in the NAVHDA Invitational. Cheers to the Hawkeye Chapter and NAVHDA International who put on an amazing event!

We came in with confidence and high hopes for Sunny to leave with a VC title, but she fell just short of a Pass in the same event as Kep fell short in last year - backing. I’d be lying if I said that didn’t give me some pause. To have two dogs, two years in a row perform so highly in training but fall short on game day leaves me wondering. But again, it gave me the opportunity to ask questions, observe others, and get advice from a wide variety of trainers and handlers. Some chats around a campfire and an 8 hour drive home with my wife, and we are coming home with a goal and plan. Stay tuned!

Congratulations to my fellow Red River Valley NAVHDA Chapter members who also earned the opportunity to showcase their talented dogs at the big event – Jeff Johnson, Ben Woessner, and Jeff Jalbert. And thanks to John Wickenheiser for coming along to cheer us on.

Extra congrats to Jeff Jalbert and his dog, Ren, who brought home the VC title!

We are grateful that NAVHDA continues to provide us with opportunities to meet so many great people from across the country! We shared many laughs, stories, and maybe a few cold beverages. Til next time 🍻

Our Ms. Laity earned herself a 186 Prize 2 at her NAVHDA Utility Test! She’s independent and lovable and when it comes to upland hunting I’d never leave this dog behind. Simply put, we are so proud of her and so glad she is ours! She needed to overcome a fear we created last year of some unknown person lurking in the shadows for the drag and she did it!! Big thanks to Anthony Dupuis and congrats to him on this title as Laity is out of his kennel and breeding program!
