Rainy Days Satins

ARBA registered rabbitry in central Oklahoma focusing on show quality red Satins. Displaying Satin, Rexed, and Waved pelts; ss, rr, and wawa.

We have two main projects we are breeding towards here at Rainy Days.

• The first and main project is show quality red Satins that excel in body type, red intensity, and growth rate. They should exceed on the show table and dinner table alike.

•Avant-garde Reza Breeding Project

Macro-goals: Commercial body type with great depth and width of loin being the focus and fullness to table. For eas

e I will refer to this as SRW. Micro-goals: Oversized prick ears for increased heat tolerance. Good growth rate, ideally hitting 5 lbs by 10 weeks of age but will select up to 12 weeks at this stage. Growth can and will be selected for later. Prefer a medium sized adult with commercial growth rates.

Abra has pulled fur for her kits every day, lol.
"It's too cold for them!" It's not, it's mid 80s, you pulled plenty from the very beginning.
"Well they don't have fur." Yes, but I think they're good..

In other news, not a single one of Peachy Keen's litter of 12 are Charlies, so... 😅 I mean, that's a good problem to have i guess.

Also, Pyromaniac is our last doe due before we break for summer and she's pulling fur this morning. Perfect timing as it looks like we're going to finally touch the 90s this weekend.

Not the best pics but it looks like the lottery hit and we got a tri Reza, well marked with already noticable reds and deep blacks.

Abra kindled yesterday flawlessly, pulled plenty of fur and had them in her well built nest. 7 total.

Majestic 🤩

Rainy Days Abracadabra weighed in at 8lb 10oz this morning and 5 months old.

Lots of 🌪️ activity coming this evening, she may find herself chilling in the storm shelter for a few hours with Ruby, Dunkin', Boomer and Fuego...

We'll be there! Saturday only, but I should be bringing some shiny red things that can go home with other people, as well as some tri Rex as they'll be 11 weeks old at that point.

Besides the Tulsa State Fair this looks to be my only rabbit show this year.

Yesterday I took video and pics of the available Satin NZ growouts that are available and these two pics are the best I got of one little girl. Pyromaniac's 3 girls are so friendly they are a bu**er to pose. "Why are we doing this? But friend, I don't want to do this. I want to do that. No thanks to smushing. Can I eat your hair instead???"

I... Did not realize I had ALSO bred Hot Mess to Boomerang, so seeing tricolors and harlies this evening in her nestbox was a bit of a surprise, lol. I would have known had I actually read the calendar alert instead of just giving her a nestbox a few days ago. 😅

Well. These should be some really typy F1 Reza project babies. 🫠 Just in time for me to not be doing it. Boomer had a really good week a month back, apparently all the recent litters are his. Fire Starter, Hot Mess, and Dust Bunny (due tomorrow).

Oh, speaking of Hot Mess. LOOK!!! Plenty of fur, a nice nest, AND she had them all safe in the box. 👏 She pulled her sh*t together 🙌 My sweet messy girl, lol.
