Charlie wants to let y'all know that April is Heartworm Awareness Month!! Charlie also wants you to know some facts! 😍

❓️Did you know❓️

🪱 Heartworm disease is caused by parasitic worms (Dirofilaria immitis) that live in the heart and lungs of infected animals.

🦟 Mosquitoes transmit heartworm larvae, which develop into adult worms over several months.

🤒 Symptoms may include coughing, difficulty breathing, weight loss, and lethargy.

💊 Heartworm disease is preventable through regular heartworm testing and preventative medication.

🐈 Heartworms can affect cats too.

🥰Let's be vigilant and protect our best furry friends!!

Important Notice: Due to the current flooding, we want to provide you with crucial information. Floodwaters are breeding grounds for disease, and bacteria can persist in saturated soil even after the waters recede, posing a risk to pets who play or relieve themselves in these areas. Symptoms typically manifest 5-14 days post-exposure.

1. Leptospirosis affects humans, dogs, cats, and other animals, though it's more prevalent in canines. We strongly recommend leptospirosis vaccination for your dog, along with maintaining all other vaccinations 💉

2. Giardia also affects humans, dogs, cats, and other animals. If your pet had contact with floodwaters, consider administering a broad-spectrum dewormer 🪱

3. Standing water attracts mosquitos, increasing the risk of heartworm infection. Schedule a heartworm test and preventative treatment for your pet 🐾

Due to inclement weather, we will be opening at 9am. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Safety is our priority, and we want to ensure everyone can travel safely.

Stay tuned for updates! Stay safe out there!

Thank you for your patience and support!

🗣🗣 Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial disease! It’s spread through the urine of infected animals and can be found in water, soil, or even puddles. Dogs are especially at risk, but the good news is that it’s preventable! 🐕💉

Your veterinarian is here to help keep your pets safe and healthy! 🐾😍

Spring is here! And with that comes a warning about Leptospirosis, a disease caused by infection with Leptospira bacteria.

All dogs are at risk of leptospirosis, regardless of age, breed, lifestyle, geographic location, time of year, and other factors. The following situations can increase that risk:

➡Exposure to or drinking from slow-moving or stagnant water sources, like ponds, rivers, lakes, or streams
➡ Roaming on rural properties (because of exposure to potentially infected wildlife or farm animals or urine-contaminated water sources)
➡ Exposure to wild animals (especially rodents) or farm animals, even if in the backyard
➡ Contact with other dogs (such as in urban areas, dog parks, or boarding or training facilities)

☠️Pet Poison Awareness: The Danger of Lilies to Our Furry Friends

As pet owners, we always strive to keep our beloved companions safe and healthy. But sometimes, the dangers come from unexpected sources. One such danger is lilies, especially to cats.

❓️Why Are Lilies Dangerous?

Lilies, including Easter lilies, Tiger lilies, and Day lilies, contain toxins that are highly poisonous to cats. Even ingesting a small amount of the plant, such as a leaf or pollen, can lead to severe kidney failure. The symptoms of lily poisoning in cats can be subtle at first but can quickly escalate into life-threatening conditions.

⚠️Signs of Lily Poisoning in Cats:

~Vomiting
~Loss of appetite
~Lethargy
~Diarrhea
~Increased thirst or urination
~Seizures (in severe cases)

‼️What to Do If You Suspect Poisoning:

If you think your pet has ingested any part of a lily, it’s important to act quickly. Take your pet to the vet immediately, as prompt treatment can save their life. The sooner they receive care, the better their chances of recovery.

🌿 Keep Lilies Out of Reach:

If you love having lilies in your home, it’s crucial to keep them far away from your pets. Consider choosing pet-safe plants instead, like spider plants, bamboo, or maranta. These plants are non-toxic and safe for both cats and dogs.

🐾Pet poison awareness is essential for every pet owner. By knowing which plants are harmful and taking precautions, we can help protect our furry friends from potential danger. Always remember, a little knowledge can go a long way in keeping your pets safe and healthy!🥰

It’s better to be safe than sorry, so check which type of lily you are purchasing before you bring any flowers or plants into your home. Lilies are beautiful plants which may brighten your home, but they are highly toxic to your cat. All
