Everyone needs to read such a nice text received this morning. Very proud of the placement of Scout into a family hunting home with a young man to learn much from this Golden. This male is Boom X Lehr breeding and a littermate to my female Rin.
Enjoy!

Hi Roz,

Wow, Wow, Wow. Well it’s official, we now have as our guide yesterday called him:

“one mighty fine hunting dog”!

Rory and Scout got the limit yesterday: 8 pheasants (3 roosters and 5 hens) on both of their first ever hunting trips, on Primland’s
33,000 acre south central Virginia hunting property in the Blue Ridge Mountains about 1,800’ elevation. About a 9 hour drive from our house.

I partially chose Primland, because I thought it would help Rory and Scout learn by working with other seasoned hunting dogs. But the guide said, there’s a very strong bond between a boy and his dog and that is rarely seen in the field any more and that we should go for it. I was really nervous, but Wow did it work. The guide was truly impressed, though they both were naturals, that Scout was calm and confident, way way beyond 1 1/2 and said they make a great team and will have a ton of success.

The guide really liked how Scout worked the field close to Rory, at about 20 to 25 yards, calmly taking his time and being very thorough (the guide, who has over 20 years experience guiding, has other seasoned dog hunter/owners with other breeds that think their dogs are doing great even though their pacing and running about at a frantic pace, flushing birds a hundred yards out, too far to even try to shoot at).

Scout chased a bird into the tall switchgrass at the field edge, which is super rough and the guide said most hunting dogs won’t even try to go near. He also followed and chased two partially wounded roosters at least 150 yards in the air, into the woods, found, fought with them and brought them out! Wow!

Scout also tracked a rooster about 30 yards from its original downed spot, in thick cover after we had to leave it to get another bird and then come back to try and find it. Wow again!

We are so thankful to you and all your hard work and expertise.

The pandemic slowed the pace, but having you, the SC, TX and at home training really paid off.

Here’s some pictures from yesterday, thanks again!!!!!:

Enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving

Everyone was included hunting this weekend!! Husbands, wives, sons and daughters, great weather and great friends. Just one dog but Ripp was more than enough. The stamina and drive he has is unbelievable, still running and hunting thick catails hard at the end of everyday. 21 birds shot all in catails without a single bird lost, despite some cripples soaring into adjacent sloughs. Witnessing Ripp find a few of thease birds was unreal. The ability he is showing in only his second season is amazing. Thank you for such a great gift in Ripp.
