Long tail grass lizards are such a neat little species! I'd love to work with them someday but I highly recommend checking them out at Asylum Pets - Wyoming, MI and maybe even taking them home!

These long tailed grass lizards are loaded with personality, and very simple to keep. They're so much fun to watch!

Natural sunlight is necessary for american alligators.

In captivity american alligators develop what is known as MBD (metabolic bone disease) which affects things like bone density causing deformities such as rubber jaw, glass teeth and more.

MBD is found even in alligators kept in the best (to our current understanding) conditions.

Important factors that can help minimize the condition are: access to UV (natural sunlight being the best source) variety in their diet along with feeding whole prey and feeding the correct amounts. There is a lot we still don't understand about crocodilians and their care making their already difficult keeping that much more complicated.

Sobek is finally a size that we feel comfortable putting them in this enclosed area (fully supervised) for short periods of time while they get used to being outdoors. Eventually when Sobek is larger they will spend whole summers outdoors in a well secured enclosure.

If you are considering getting an alligator please consider these facts before making the commitment and decide for yourself if you'd like to support the breeding and selling of baby alligators or if you'd prefer to rescue one already in need. No judgement on your decision, that's something only you can choose.
