The first multi-berry picking! The berries are definitely smaller, assuming the side-effects from the storm damage, but seeing strawberries at all after that makes me happy!

Miracles do happen! Must admit this was one very satisfying strawberry this afternoon!

Still worried about the long term health of the plants after the disaster on Tuesday. But this may be proof of hope.

Almost a week since switching the nutrients over and allowing the plants to flower. Buds and flowers are forming along with the early stages of fruit. Another 4 weeks or so and we’ll be enjoying some fresh strawberries!

Hopefully the first of many! Switched the nutrients over this afternoon to support flowers and fruit!

Strawberry plants are filling out nicely! Decided to build an insulation box for the reservoir to assist in minimizing the effects of this hot weather. This weekend I’ll switch the nutrients over and begin to allow the plants to fruit. Who wants strawberries!!??

This morning I allowed the chicks to explore down into their run. 4 weeks old and they should be able to handle the ambient temperatures. I removed the heat lamp and moved their water and feed to the run. The strawberries keep growing. 2 weeks since planting and buds are forming daily; sad to pinch them off, but hoping it leads to a larger harvest later this month into August.

The chicks are 3 weeks old and growing fast. They seem to have settled in nicely and I cannot wait to introduce them to the run in a couple weeks. The strawberries are beginning to take off once the heat wave broke. Look what I found this morning! The first flowers after ONLY 1 WEEK! I’ll be clipping those off along with others for the next few weeks to allow the plants to focus on growing and greening before the attention turns to fruiting.

2 weeks old and these young girls are taking over the coop.
