Only you know your horse:
Everyone is going to tell you things you don’t want to hear about your horse. Maybe they owned the horse before you or trained the horse. But your relationship with your horse is unique that no one can understand besides you. If they haven’t competed off the horse or haven’t spent time with the horse in a long time, their opinion does not matter. Your relationship is one of a kind that can not be replaced. Ignore their opinions because at the end of the day all that matters is if you are comfortable with your horse and if you have that special bond. You don’t need to hear what you could do different if you know what works for your horse. Now on that note don’t always shy away from help but don’t take every single thing someone says to heart. If they don’t know your riding ability and if they don’t know your horse, they make judgements based off of what they see. Therefore their judgements is not always accurate because they don’t see the work at home. Focus on you and your horse and let people talk. They are going to try to discourage you but you don’t have to listen. That relationship is something that can’t be forced or duplicated

See these socks? They are some of the the ugliest and ill fitting socks I’ve ever had to buy but yet the most expensive any of us will ever have to purchase. They are issued at every major medical institution I’ve ever been to per the procedure being done. I’ve seen my medical records. They are measured in inches and are thick enough to stop a high velocity bullet. That does not count the mental aspect of the burden placed upon all those involved. Several have been in the equestrian field. That is not an accomplishment I’m proud of but I wouldn’t change much. Only a couple could be avoided and this one is not one.

Since my entry into mounted shooting the one thing that has stayed true is my clients and the support of the shooting community. Thank y’all each and every one. Myself and Dana are very touched. I’m afraid I probably scared you all very much especially Dana. I told Dana to throw those socks away yesterday. I can put socks on without help now and I can survive on a lot less pills. I love you very much Dana Hall. I can spend more time at the barn and arena and that’s where I will complete this journey. I’ll be off the road for a bit but I’ll see y’all soon enough. I’ll be in a big blue truck with a long trailer and I’ll be on a fast horse. Thank y’all.
