Poll tension isn’t always from the “poll”. Often can come from the hind end, back or TMJ. Nuchal ligament is located here and is a strong fibrous membrane in the posterior neck. Running from the base of the skull to the cervical spine. Serves as a critical attachment point for muscles like the trapezius and splenius capitis. All horses are different and can show differently. Behavioral issue’s can vary and maybe consistent of, Head-shyness, troubles bridling, or ear sensitivity. Being resistant to bit, refusing to bend or leaning on one side. Poll area is usually the area it accumulates and last place to releases. The best technique I have found to help release some tension, is using trigger point therapy and gentle massage in the tight areas to follow up.
