At Cross Winds Leather, we do not manufacture the materials or hardware used for our products; we solely handcraft the finished product. About the Maker:
Elena, the founder and maker of Cross Winds Leather, is based in rural Western Pennsylvania with her small family. After marrying in 2020, Elena and her husband welcomed their first dog, Lebowski, a Miniature Australian Shepherd, followed by Timber less than a year later. As Elena cared for and bonded with her dogs, she realized that the dog gear available on the market didn’t meet her expectations. She longed for more unique and high-quality dog gear. This desire led Elena to begin crafting her own dog gear in their bedroom during a house remodel. Despite the challenges, creating with her hands brought her fulfillment and joy. She then spent a year and a half refining her craft, receiving feedback from family and friends, setting goals both financially and creatively, and learning the in's and out's of starting a small business. In June of 2023, Cross Winds Leather was officially open and ready for business. As Cross Winds Leather continues to grow, Elena invites customers to join her on this exciting journey. She is deeply passionate about crafting high-quality dog gear while maintaining transparency about how her products are made and what materials go into them. Cross Winds (CW) Elijah:
Cross Winds Leather is dedicated to Elena's beloved horse, Eli, who passed in April of 2024. Eli was Elena's greatest friend for over 14 years, and while he is no longer here he plays an integral part of the brand.

Meet Saphira, our second newest climbing rope and as bold and captivating as her namesake. Woven with deep indigo, sky blue and white threads, she shimmers with a pearlescent shift when viewed from a distance. While reminiscent of our Liberty climbing rope, Saphira’s 9.8mm diameter offers a sturdier and more substantial feel in-hand. I’ve personally used Saphira in my rotation of gear and I absolutely love her, I hope you all do as well!

Saphira, Thorn and Hazelnut as well as our two newest thread colors will be available soon.

Meet Thorn, our newest climbing rope that simply demands attention. It always appears like it’s glowing, especially in the natural light. Thorn is a fiery red from a distance but the up close details of the blood orange, red and burgundy threads make it unique. It has a compact diameter of 9.5mm. If you enjoy Sundown Cyan in-hand, Thorn feels exactly the same.

Thorn pairs well with all of our leather colors and stands out beautifully when used for a Window Collar.

Meet our newest leather addition that’s reminiscent of an older leather color I used to dye by hand (iykyk). The pull up effect is gorgeous and I cannot get enough of it. Hazelnut is a great choice if you want a leather color right in between Acorn and Cherry Oak. Olive colored thread brings a minimal pop of color without overpowering the beauty of our collars. It also looks fantastic paired with Hazelnut Leather and Distressed Brown padding.
