This was Malakai’s first time roping live cattle… They weren’t super “live” but just perfect for his level. Our family loves the sport of ranch roping because it’s easy for any level of rider to learn and offers a horse a lot of purpose for the maneuvers we teach them. # liveequestrian

Exciting!

Exciting!

How is this organization different from others like ACMC or NAMAR?

IMHA is focused not only on horse registration but also on building a full-featured platform for mustangs beyond adoption.

That includes:
Approved shows,
Points,
Incentives, and awards tracking
Support for trainers and professionals
Carded Judges
Educational and community-building opportunities
And more to come in 2026!

We’re starting from the ground up in 2025 with a vision to become the premier mustang organization for long-term engagement and recognition.

Time to meet another IMHA founder!

Teddy Franke – Mustang Horseman, Farrier, Educator & IMHA Co-Founder

Teddy’s connection to mustangs began with a Kiger mare named Cabela, a tough, cowy, steady ranch partner who convinced him early on that mustangs could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with any using horse. His first adoption-challenge horse, Jeremiah of the Paisley Desert, only strengthened that conviction—an athletic, good-minded gelding who was a blast to compete on and proved just how much talent mustangs bring to the table.

A former TIP trainer, Teddy gentled a number of mustangs while running Mission Farrier School. Students learned to handle untouched horses as part of their farrier and horsemanship education, and several ended up adopting the very mustangs they helped start—experiences that became turning points in their training and confidence.

Professionally, Teddy is a lifelong horseman, farrier, and international horsemanship instructor, holding multiple certifications through the Certified Horsemanship Association and working with riders and educators across the U.S. and abroad. Years spent studying feral hooves—and the way movement and environment create strong, resilient feet—have shaped both his teaching and his approach to functional hoof care.

His newest mustang, The Amazing Quigley from the South Steens HMA, continues to challenge and teach him, keeping him grounded in the same principles he teaches his students.

But the deepest impact has come through Teddy’s family. His daughter has grown tremendously through her work with mustangs, and his son Malakai, a young horseman with special needs, gentled his own mustang—Hot Wheels—in a way that boosted his confidence and motor skills more than any therapy ever had. Those moments made mustangs part of the Franke family story, not just part of Teddy’s career.

All of these experiences led Teddy to help launch the International Mustang Horse Association (IMHA)—a place for mustangs to build identity and achievement beyond the first hundred days of gentling. IMHA exists to highlight what mustangs become over a lifetime, not just who they are at adoption.

Teddy is proud to help build an association that honors the heart, versatility, and future of America’s mustangs.

Looking forward to a fun clinic in Redmond coming up.

Good morning, friends and family! I’m thrilled to share that we’ll be hosting our very first clinic together! To ensure a personalized and engaging experience for both riders and horses, we’re keeping the group small — spots are limited.

If you have any questions or would like to reserve your spot, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

This announcement is being shared first with my friends and clients here, but it will go live on public pages later this evening. Thank you for your continued support — we can’t wait to see you there!

Franke Family Horsemanship is offering up a great one…

Meet Nantucket , a four-year-old Palomino Buttes Mustang. We purchased him through Teens & Oregon Mustangs as a yearling and he has been in our program since then. Trace started him and Alina has done most of his training and showing. He has serious curb appeal and is sure to turn heads with that unique dun color.

From 4-H shows to ranch work, jumping packing etc, this gelding has proven himself steady, smart, sensitive, and willing

(Video in the comments)

He has packed both beginners more advanced riders, but would do best with someone who is confident since he is still young and impressionable.
Tucket is an awesome mover with a smooth stride. He has that great combination of liking to move out but still being easily manageable and not overly concerned where his buddies are. A performance home would be ideal. He has done well in the show ring western and english. He seems to excel in jumping. Tucket is titled, registered with the International Mustang Horse Association, and enrolled in the Wild to Winning incentive.

He will be in Yamhill Oregon this weekend (Oct/17/18 )participating the IMHA Inaugural show. Feel free to stop by and check him out.
