IGP1 “Honor Dog” a the 2026 spring Cascade Schutzhund Club AWMA Trial.

In IGP sport, the honor dog is the dog that serves as the partner dog during the obedience phase when there is an odd number of entries. While one dog is being judged on its long down under distraction, the honor dog performs the obedience routine on the field. After completing the routine, roles are reversed, and the honor dog must then demonstrate her own stability and control by remaining calmly in the long down while the judged dog performs obedience exercises.

The honor dog is an essential part of the judging process, allowing teams to be evaluated under the distraction of another dog actively working on the field.

It was such a wonderful learning experience! Zero regrets. 🙏🏽 ….. well, except the A frame dumbbell fiasco….. but always a lesson and growth in every trial. Truly, failure is part of the journey. ❤️‍🔥🏆
