Meet Riven! Riven was in pretty rough shape when he came in last March, and we weren't sure he was going to make it through the night. His eyes were full of vit A deposits and stuck shut with shed. His mouth was full of mouth rot and couldn't close all the way. He was so incredibly skinny and not eating.

I'm not here to judge or shame anyone. His previous owner tried their best. They took him to the vet. They got him meds. They changed his food. They followed the vet's advice on husbandry. He got better, and then he got worse. They recognized that they weren't able to give him the high level of care he needed at the time, and brought him to us. I will always be proud of them for doing what was best for their beloved pet.

Riven needed a lot of care. We spent hours removing stuck shed and cleaning out his eyes and mouth. After getting his eyes cleaned out it took 3 days for his eyeballs to show back up. For 2 weeks we thought he was blind. We syringe fed twice a day and then tong fed him daily for weeks. For several weeks he still needed some help with shedding.

A year later, and you'd never know there was ever anything wrong with him. He hunts. He climbs. He digs. He sheds without assistance. He loves people and always comes to the front of his enclosure to see what's going on. Today he's a beautiful, healthy leopard gecko who is thriving. He is available for adoption.

This is why we rescue.
