Hey guys just an update, the rattery is closed we will no longer have rats available in arizona for the forseeable future, i hope to use the page as an outlet for education on proper husbandry and keeping of rats as pets so stay tuned for that. If theres any subject i as a breeder can touch on that anyone would like to know about, regarding husbandry, ethical breeding practices, diet, enrichment or other please feel free to messege the page with your suggestions and ill make a post for everyone to learn from ❤ its been fun these past five years and i hope to still remain a part of the community in some small positive way.

Here at 3R we value our animals quality of life above all else, for many pet owners this can be difficult to measure in rats as they are experts at hiding pain and illness, to a degree. This link shares some points to consider when its time to make such a difficult, but compassionate, decision, and as always we are available any time to help and give advice as best as we can, even if you didnt get your pet rats from 3R.

This document contains a guide on how to properly gauge a rat’s quality of life, or QoL. The lower the number, the worse the QoL for the rat and vice versa. This guide has been adapted from Journey’s QoL scale to better fit rats in particular.
