Despite having to unload 5000+ lbs of feed out of the grinder by hand last week (PTO went out in our old feed tractor), things are back on track and bulls are on feed! Woohoo! (Thank you, Joey!)

Brought some of the bull calf pairs home a little earlier this year. We are determined to pre-wean and wean a little earlier this year! (Last year’s 2.5’ of snow made things a little interesting!)

As always, I am behind! We had a great “reorganizational” meeting of the Colorado Gelbvieh Association last month, here at the ranch! Thanks to all who made it and rhe others who joined us on-line! We had a great meeting, got to spend time looking at cattle and even a little sight-seeing!

Homozygous black homozygous polled PB99 herd sire here at CKS Gelbvieh. He has been out breeding cows for 2 months and I don't think he has lost a pound doing it! "Bert" has an excellent disposition and is extremely sound footed. His first daughters are in production now and they are doing an excellent job!

Heifers for Sale in SE Colorado Sorted off about 20 replacement heifers and brought them home. About half are registered Balancers or Gelbviehs, with the others being commercial Balancer heifers. Message for prices and registration numbers.

Thank you so much for highlighting our BNW Miller 4126M at this weekend's sale! He has already made his way back to Warner Beef Genetics in Nebraska and we couldn't be more excited about his future! But I would be remiss if I didn't give a major shout-out to Brent Overmiller from Overmiller Gelbvieh, who came all the way out to Model to bid on the bull, too. Having both of these programs competing for this bull was just unbelievably gratifying. Thank you both so so much!

Sometimes after an event like our Bull Sale, it takes a few days to get back to "what's next!" For us, of course, calving is in full swing, new herd bulls are showing up and we are making the final cut on our replacement heifers. That means that we will have at least 25 more to be selling - most are registered Balancers with a few higher percentage Gelbvieh ones, as well.
