Beth Rodgers McCashin

August 27, 1952 - August 20, 2025

Beth R McCashin left this world for greener pastures on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025. Originally from Ohio, Beth made her way South as a child when her family moved to Winston-Salem, NC. She graduated from Gardner Webb University in 1974 with a BS in Biology.

She married her husband, John McCashin, in 1983 and together they built Thoroughbred Training Center, an expansive horse farm in Mocksville, NC. They had two children, Sean McCashin (Michelle Gardner-McCashin) and Mary McCashin (Devon Constable). John predeceased Beth in 2013.

A flower child always, she found joy throughout her life in nature, especially exploring State and National Parks with her family. The McCashin family summer vacations were legendary and full of adventures. She loved taking care of senior horses, her German Shepherd dogs, and most importantly, her grandchildren (Ruth Anne, Millie, and Harmon).

She is survived by her sisters, Dawn Lamb and Janice Rodgers, and her brother, James Rodgers, Jr.

Information regarding a memorial service will be forthcoming.

Our mom is in the ICU fighting a very serious infection. We ask for privacy at this time and will post updates as available. We’re trying to limit texts and calls to immediate friends and family.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate your care and concern, but we are trying to focus on what Mom needs right now.

Farming is NOT for the 9-5'ers or the faint of heart.....the Cana Land & Farm crew JUST at 10:05 pm pulled IN from the hayfields....last night pull in was 9:40pm....both mornings things were ON GO at 7:45am.The hay IS lovely....the very high humidity and high heat together are brutal....both on production due to moisture and the human body.THANK GOD for air conditioned tractors.....and no, they are not free .Between lime, fertilizer, equipment, fuel, seed, baling twine, manpower, the blessing of the good Lord with weather,AND butt busting hours, the hay you purchase IS worth every dollar amount charged. Doubtful??? I'll meet you in the hayfield between 1pm -4pm Wednesday afternoon.😉
