Say hi to Poe! 🐦‍⬛ He arrived at HSWM recently as part of a transfer. Poe is friendly and loves some head pats and ear scritches, but he won’t demand all of your attention either. Poe would love a home where he has space to roam or time outside — this 4-year-old cat is quite the hunter! If you’re looking for an outgoing cat with a bit of mischief, Poe’s your guy! Come meet him at the shelter Wed-Sun from 1-6pm 🐾 Don’t forget that adult cat adoptions are free every Saturday in June for Adopt-A-Cat month!

Happy Caturday! 😼 Today we’re highlighting one of our spunky new arrivals, Pirate Dave! 🏴‍☠️ Pirate Dave is outgoing, playful and very active (maybe that’s why his whiskers are so windblown?). Here at the shelter, Dave is always climbing into your lap for attention, but can get a little bitey if the petting goes on for too long. He was originally found as a stray, and we think he’d thrive in an environment where he can have some time outdoors or space to roam - he might make a fantastic shop cat, too! If you’re looking for a fiery but friendly new companion, Pirate Dave might be your perfect match!

June is a Adopt-A-Cat month and we are offering free adult cat adoptions and half price kitten adoptions every Saturday — it’s a great day to adopt, head to the shelter today from 1-6pm! 🐾

June isn't just national Adopt-A-Cat month...it's also national Foster-A-Pet month! 🐾 Our fosters help us increase our capacity by providing extra time and attention to our shelter friends who need more dedicated care. So, on this Foster Friday, we want to highlight two of our little kitten friends currently living in foster — meet Island & Plateau! 🐈‍⬛

These two young kittens are with one of our amazing kitten fosters, Mackenzie! She's been fostering with HSWM for a little over a year now, here's what she had to say about our program: "In 2024 I lost my cat of 18 years and felt like I needed to do something in her memory. I previously worked in the veterinary industry, and knew I could really help some vulnerable little critters. My favorite part is taking my fosters back to the humane society to get adopted! It’s a bittersweet moment for sure, but there’s so much joy knowing this little creature I’ve worked so hard to support is all grown up and ready for their forever home. I love hearing about them getting adopted!"

Thanks for taking such good care of our tiny friends, Mackenzie! 🩵 If you are interested in joining our foster network, you can complete our orientation at: https://myhswm.org/become-a-foster/

Quartz & Milo are still searching for their perfect new homes 💛 These adorable, 7-month-old brothers did not receive a lot of exposure to people/places during their socialization window, so many of the things we see as "normal" are quite scary for them. Thankfully, both of them absolutely love the company of other dogs and feel much more comfortable in their presence.

Both of these pups are willing to approach people for a treat or to chase a tossed toy (especially Quartz), but they are not interested in being reached for or pet until a significant time has been spent with a trusted person. Tossing these sweet guys some cheese and toys, especially when another dog is present, is the quickest way into their little circle.

The perfect homes for Milo & Quartz will have minimal traffic and a very confident resident dog to help show them the ropes (they love to mimic behavior!). Their perfect families will be patient and understand that an "old" dog can learn new tricks, but it takes a lot of time and structure. Our behavior team has been working with these two on confidence building games like hand targeting, and would love to chat more about them with interested adopters. You can reach out to [email protected] to learn more about these guys, and set up a time for you and your dog to come meet them! Help us find the perfect match for these endearing little fellas 🐾

Say hello to Percy 💚 He just arrived at the shelter yesterday as part of a transfer. Percy is outgoing, playful and absolutely loves a scritch on the cheek or behind his ears. While he's been spending some time settling in on her perch here, he was quite active and loved a wand toy in his previous home (he also lived with a small dog friend!). 🐈‍⬛ It's Adopt-A-Cat month, so we can't think of a better time to give this sweet cat a new home — come meet Percy at the shelter Wed-Sun from 1-6pm!
