Whew! It’s getting hot and smoky out there! Stay safe my friends and enjoy a few of the bouquets that went out last week to the lovely wives of our local wildland firefighters!

It been too long since I held a bouquet of flowers in my hands that were picked just because! I started picking a few short stems of asters last night to encourage more blooms and this evening decided they needed some friends. I love the pink asters with the eryngium and orayla! Plus, the first dahlia of the season and a few MM sweet peas…chefs kiss!!

It's been a busy month...

I've only been home about 10 of the last 35 days. Between work travel and family visits, my flower farm has been left to fend for itself—and to be honest...it's a bit of a jungle.

Today was spent weeding, untangling beds, and rediscovering all the blooms that have been quietly doing their thing while I've been away. It's funny how flowers don't wait for the perfect schedule. They just keep growing.

I was really excited to be adding bees to the flower farm but I’m even more ecstatic about it now that I have a little helper who is equally as excited about them! We have a lot to learn but this just felt like a great next step for the garden!

Spring planting is almost done! I just have a few more dahlias to get into the ground as soon as the rain backs off a little and then I’ll be shifting into cleanup and maintenance mode! I’m so ready for morning garden walks with my coffee.
