🫶Hey, hoomans! It’s me—Lexi. 🐾

You’ve probably heard the legend: mysterious street dog outsmarting traps in Lexington, Missouri, surviving off scraps and sass. That was me. I was basically a four-legged ninja. 🥷🏿(My name? Courtesy of my zip code. Shoutout to Lexington for the branding.)

So there I was, livin’ life rogue-style… until some nice lady started leaving out gourmet meals. I’m talkin’ rotisserie chicken-level bait. Then she got sneaky with a FLUFFY BED and a COLLAR like she was setting up a doggy Airbnb. Honestly, I cracked. Girl’s gotta eat, right?

🥴Then DDS showed up with raw meat, hot dogs, and ham. I mean—who do they think I am? I walked into that trap like I had a reservation.

Now I’m safe, warm, and officially living the good life. I’ve decided that I love people, 🥰especially my foster mom. I cry when she leaves, which is my dramatic way of saying “you complete me.” This whole family thing? 10/10, highly recommend.✨

Here’s the tea:
• I’m about 1 year old
• Fully vaccinated (like a responsible queen)
• Microchipped (find me on GPS, baby)
• Bad eye removal surgery scheduled for next week—it’s been useless for a while, so time to say goodbye and level up my pirate vibes 🏴‍☠️
• I’m full of personality and sass
• I get along with other dogs
• I’m totally potty trained—I scream when I have to go. I do not do accidents. That’s not on brand for me.👎

❤️I’m sweet, spicy, and 100% ready to move in with my forever fam.

🫵So what do you say? You bring the snacks, I’ll bring the snuggles—and the drama.

Fill out that application. Let’s make this official before I redecorate Chrissy’s house with my feelings.😆

From Pet Resource Center of Kansas City

Rocky has been rescued by his new family, but now he needs help getting healthy again. ❤️‍🩹

He was recently saved by the kindest family after coming from a situation where he wasn’t receiving the care he desperately needed. Concerned for his health, they brought him to our urgent care because of how emaciated and malnourished he was.

Our veterinary team performed x-rays to make sure there wasn’t something more serious going on. Once surgery was ruled out, we treated Rocky for intestinal parasites and continued to monitor him over the course of a week with fluids and supportive care. When he wasn’t with us, his family provided around-the-clock attention, regulating his body temperature with heating pads and giving him all the love and care he’s been missing for far too long.

Unfortunately, Rocky’s family had already depleted their finances after taking him to an emergency vet before coming to us. Now, they’re left with nothing to spare.

We’re hoping to ease their financial burden, and if you can find it in your heart to donate even a few dollars toward Rocky’s recovery, it would mean the world to his family, our staff, and of course, to sweet Rocky himself. 💙

“Last night, our dedicated volunteers hit the streets to deliver essential resources to our houseless community and their pets. One of the biggest needs? Collars, harnesses, and leashes.

In the first photo, you'll see Fathead, a sweet pup whose owner had no choice but to use a rope as a makeshift leash and collar. But last night, that changed. Fathead received his very first real leash and collar, just look at how proud he is! Along with leashes, we also handed out pet food, toys, treats, and other critical supplies. But by the end of the night, our resources were completely depleted...

We do these outreach efforts every Wednesday night, and we urgently need your help to restock supplies—especially collars, harnesses, and leashes for big dogs. If you're able, please consider donating at the button below to help provide a pet with their very first leash and collar. If you’d rather donate in-kind items, whether new or gently used, you can drop them off Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM, at 5829 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64110. If you can't make it in person, you can still make a big impact by purchasing from our Amazon Wishlist at https://bit.ly/45v3iBk.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps ensure pets in houseless communities receive the essentials to stay safe and well cared for. ❤”

Meet Mistley — The Sweetheart Adventurer Ready for Her Forever Home!
Central Missouri Humane Society | Columbia, MO

Mistley is 3–4 years old and has the heart of a survivor. She came in as a stray after being hit by a car and suffering a broken leg. But this resilient girl healed up and has been waiting patiently for a family since the end of last year.

She’s a little shy at first in new places, but give her some tasty treats and a belly rub and she’ll melt into your arms. Mistley is silly, sweet, and LOVES to explore — following her nose wherever it takes her. She’s ready for road trips, couch cuddles, and all the adventures life has to offer.

Let’s help this girl finally find the home she deserves.

Miss Sasha is the absolute BEST girl at BCHS and we ADORE her!! She came to us as a transfer from another small rural shelter where she lived for a year before we pulled her. She is a GORGEOUS 3 yr old (possible) Pointer/Lab mix! She is great with dogs and keeps a spotless kennel. She knows sit and a trainer is working with her weekly. She loves to go on walks, has the best smile, loves treats and toys, and is a couch potato when she’s not out exploring with her nose, something she loves to do! Whoever gets to adopt this girl will be the luckiest human(s) ever!!! Contact Amanda at 785.288.1225 if you’d like to meet Sasha! 🩷

Want to help shelter pets but not sure how? You might already have what they need.

In-kind donations—like pet supplies, medical items, toys, or even gift cards—directly impact our mission by reducing our operating costs and helping us focus resources where they’re needed most: emergency medical care, adoption efforts, and life-saving rural shelter visits.

Even better? Items like gift baskets, handcrafted goods, and experiences can be used in our silent auctions and raffles to raise critical funds at events.

Whether you’re a pet lover, small business, or just someone who wants to make a difference, in-kind donations go a long way.

This is why we do what we do.
A huge thank you to Chris & Rebecca Jennings for the incredible note, kind words, and for opening their home to not just one, but four deserving dogs rescued from rural Kansas shelters.

One of those lucky pups—Saber—was adopted from Frick’s All Paws Rescue in Larned, Kansas and is now living his best life in beautiful Colorado. What started as a foster became a foster fail (our favorite kind!), and Saber clearly knows he hit the jackpot.

Your support helped fuel one of our recent shelter trips, and your message reminded us how powerful this mission truly is. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting rural rescue and for believing in what we do.

We’ll be cheering on Daniel Boone when he starts agility and rally competitions—and we can’t wait for those pup-dates!

Thank you, Rebecca & Chris.
You’ve reminded us that every mile, every moment, and every mission matters.

Salina Animal Shelter needs your help.

Due to a pit bull ban in Salina, these fully vetted, microchipped, 8-month-old puppies—born in the shelter’s care as part of a court case—are now in urgent need of rescue placement or adopters outside city limits.

They’re sweet, playful, and learning leash skills, but they can’t stay simply because of their breed.

If you’re a rescue, foster, or adopter who can help one of these deserving pups find their future, please reach out directly:

Looking for a 95-pound therapy session on four legs? Meet our gentle giant, Oliver.

Described as a “great dog” by his former family and a total cuddlebug by his foster, Oliver is the full package: housebroken, kennel trained, knows his commands, and gives world-class snuggles. He’s a calm, soulful walker who turns every stroll into a moment of peace.

After 8 loyal years in one home, Oliver was surrendered through no fault of his own. He’s cautious at first—especially with men—but once he warms up, he’ll stick to your side like Velcro. He loves older kids, needs to be your one-and-only pet, and would thrive in a home where his gentle heart gets all the love it deserves.

Call Great Plains SPCA at (913) 831-7722 to set up a meet-and-greet in Merriam, KS.
Let’s get this sweet boy into the forever home he’s been waiting for.
