I've lost the horse that made me look like a good rider and trainer, "Spider " AKA Ima Midnite Caller. The knees that took us around the barrels, between the poles, changed directions so effortlessly to cut cow out, and took him and me down many a trail, finally gave out. I had to put him down this afternoon. He leaves a big hole in my chest where he was in the flesh. I only know that he was the best. Oh, he had his quirks, like you couldn't fly spray him in the pasture, In the barn, on the picket line, not a problem. But not standing in his pasture. You also couldn't worm him there either ! The only time he ever even made me think he would have hurt me !!! After he wouldn't stand by the gate to put the Paiste in his mouth , I went in and demanded that he come and take it like a man and he promptly put me in a hay feeder. After I got him on the far side of the feeder I ran like the dickins for the gate.. at witch time I called him to the fence put a halter on him and walked him to his stall. I guess he didn't want to be disgraced in front of the girls cause he took it like he always did.
I know in heart that he is in horse heaven right now enjoying fresh knees and good grass but I only wish he could have had it here with me. There will never be another Spider, I will never see another horse as pleasure able to be around as him !!!!!! I will always love and remember him for what he was, an honest horse.
