Minot Trail Riders

Minot Trail Riders Minot Trail Riders is a saddle club that promotes family entertainment centered around horses.

Who we are
We are a local horse club that was founded over 80 years ago, it started out as a group of horse loving individuals, along with their friends and families, that would gather together for trail rides (hence the name). Many things have changed overtime and we have evolved into so much more, while maintaining our core values of friendship, welcoming to all and of course the love of horse

s. This club has seen generations of families over the years and continues to welcome new memberships every year. We are a non profit, volunteer run club and facility that takes a lot of dedication. With all the growth and changes that continue to occur, expenses and repairs to keep the facility safe and applicable grow with them. What we do
Some of our events that occur throughout each season include 4H clinic days, weekly wednesday fun nights, NBHA sanctioned barrel races, Extreme Obstacle Challenge, Ranch Horse Competition and various horse clinics. Goals
We strive to maintain a fun and safe atmosphere for our members and spectators to enjoy. We also hope to add some new and different events to our agenda, such as rodeos and ropings. We have some amazing sponsors and support from our community and we would like to invite you to be one of those sponsors to allow this long time staple in our horse community to continue to evolve.

Hey guess what ?! We have been blessed with another volunteer opportunity! Minot Trail Riders will be working the doors at the Badlands Circuit Finals and selling 5050 raffle tickets. We will need 15 people each performance, Oct 10-12. We have been asked to wear MTR swag, and the announcer will let the crowd know to find our logo as we wander around selling tickets. This is not just an opportunity to make some $$$, but also remind the community that we're here.

You can comment or pm our page with any questions, or to commit to working.

The 2025 Liz Christianson Extreme Cowboy Obstacle Challenge is in the books ! We had ourselves quite the adventure of a weekend - the weather was surely not on our side, but we refused to let that deter us. We had a great day of practice on Saturday and a fabulous competition on Sunday. We had awesome Open, Youth, Peewee, and In Hand contestants!

Thanks to everyone that contributed to this years event, to include but surely not limited to : Lori for running the cook shack, Andrew for making the trench vision come to life, Alyssa for announcing, Terry and Mary for running the office, Jimmy and Roger for resetting the arena all day, and *everyone that helped set and decorate the arena all weekend.

Deanna had us all teared up with her words on Liz and a beautiful little poem. We enjoyed remembering Liz's love of horses and family and her infectious sense of humor, while we cheered each other on.

Peep some pics taken by multiple members, and stay tuned for a more in depth thank you to the sponsors that keep us running, plus placings . 🀠

Everyone - our riding season is over, but please mark your calendars for Sept 27 at 10 am, to join us at the arena and prepare the grounds for winter. We will be cleaning and emptying the cookshack, emptying and stacking trash cans inside, winterizing the water wagon and underground lines, and reorganizing the garage , for starters. Many hands make light work, so bring the whole family - and toss in a pot luck dish if you want to stay for lunch !

Hey sugar lumps - pack your rain ponchos, we're having an extreme cowboy obstacle weekend! A little rain will keep the dust down and add an element to our courses.

We have a really fun sidepot class at the ready, our cookshack is stocked, our judge is rearin' to go, and we're about to have more fun than you can shake a stick at! Added money and prizes will be awarded to Open, Youth, Peewee, and In Hand on Sunday.

If you want a chance to practice obstacles, we still have room in the Saturday clinic, 10-12 and 1-3.

As always, we appreciate any and all help producing our events - gate runners, obstacle re-setters, and cook shack help is much needed and counts towards your volunteerism for year end prizes.

*any and all questions can be commented below, sent to the fb page PMs, or forwarded to Lindsey at 701-500-9909.

We are finalizing our patterns for both the clinic and challenge. We have repeat, repurposed onstacles, and we have brand new fun obstacles! We are really looking forward to every class, but putting a lot of extra effort into improving our in-hand class, this year. So remember - in hand horses are welcome at the clinic as well as the challenge. What a great opportunity for a fun, challenging experience that isn't just your regular old horse show class.

There are a few slots available in each time block and entries have no limit on Sunday, so join us for a really fun weekend in the sun - we're going to remember Liz and cheer each other on just like she always did. Plus : we are excited to give away added money and prizes!

I happen to have it on good authority that our judge for this year is brand spanking new and sharp as a tack. We've had a lot of good ones, but this one is going to rank right up there ! πŸ˜‰

We are less than a month away from our obstacle weekend - call or text to sign up for the clinic, and show up day of for the challenge. We are thrilled to offer added money and prizes for each division. Our in hand and p*e wee classes build up to our youth and open, so we are going to keep fostering the heck out of them. In addition, our sidepot surprise class is brand new and exciting, so get those cameras in the holster !

Throughout our season, I see candid moments that make me proud of our horse community. I need to be better about sharing more, and I'm going to start right now!
Last night, Savannah (who is always a sweetheart, but also happens to be highly competitive) chose pony pen Avery as her tandem ba****ck partner in the big arena. She was so patient with Avery, she kept her safe and gave her loads of extra time to swap spots. Why do I think that's so cool? Because Savannah could easily have chosen another competitive rider her own age to gun for first place. Instead, she let Avery have a lot of fun and confidence in the big arena and finished switching places last - with a big fat smile on her face ! My heart may have grown three whole sizes. πŸ’“

Every single family out there bringing up these awesome kids and young adults in our Trail Riders family - we see you. You're really rocking it! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

Guess what, we have been offered another fundraising opportunity! Minot Trail Riders will be cleaning horse barn II on the NDSF grounds on August 17, from 5pm-9pm. If you didn't make the July fundraiser, this is a great opportunity to pitch in and make sure you qualify for year end prizes. If you want to be a gold star participant and do both - we would love that, too! Many hands make light work. πŸ˜ƒ
Bring a shovel, a broom, and a wheelbarrow if you've got one. See you all on the 17th!

Rain, rain, go away! 😑

We are not happy to announce that our RHV show originally scheduled for August 10th is being postponed. We debated about giving contestants free water wings with each entry, but decided instead to move our show to August 24th. All monies and prizes will be waiting, so slip us in your schedule for two weeks from now!

Please pass the word along to anyone you know that might have been planning to travel.

This Sunday is our ranch horse versatility show. We are all geared up to have a ton of fun and give away a boatload of money and prizes!

We are looking for a few more volunteers to help run the gate and reset patterns, so if you are able to pitch in for a couple hours, we would appreciate you!

The cookshack will be open for lunch, and we'll have lots of cold drinks and treats, too.

Our surprise sidepot is a real wild card this year. The only hint you get is : no stick horses will be involved. You will absolutely want to enter up, and if you don't - get to the fence with a camera, because I can guarantee there WILL be hootin' and there WILL be hollerin' !

See you all on Sunday. It's about to get ranchy! 🀠
