Sometimes a classic and simple surgical technique is the best option. We repaired this femur fracture in a 8 week old, 1 pound kitten yesterday. Since we now have more advanced techniques for fracture repair, many new surgeons do not know about using a figure 8 wire to stabilize a tiny bone. The late Dr. Larry Wallace taught me this trick, and I am grateful to have it in my surgical arsenal for tiny bones with little space for implants. In a patient this young, the bone will heal in 2 weeks.
