Minnesota Equestrian

Minnesota Equestrian is a student run organization that allows students to ride and to compete while completing their undergraduate degree.

We are a Hunt Seat and Western IHSA show team in Zone 7 Region 3. Our primary goal is to give members the opportunity to show through IHSA during their undergraduate education. We also provide members with the ability to make contacts in the equine industry through riding lessons, group outings, speakers and other equine related activities. Our organization provides University of Minnesota student

“Hey! I’m Katie and I am a junior from Oak Park, Illinois, studying Chemistry! This is my third year on the team, second year as captain, and first year as fundraising chair. I have been riding and showing Arabian horses for about 13 years in the Saddleseat division. Joining the team was nerve wracking since I had never sat on a western horse but it was easily the best decision I have made in college. I am looking forward to a great year ahead!”

“Hi! My name is Grace and I’m from Prior Lake, Minnesota. I’m a junior studying strategic communication and economics. This is both my second year on the team and second year as treasurer. I’ve been riding and showing arabian horses in hunter pleasure for about 10 years. The team has been a great opportunity to learn a new discipline and meet new people, so I’m very excited for this coming year!”

“Hey! I'm Gretchen and I'm a fourth-year student studying Fisheries, Wildlife, & Conservation Biology from Minneapolis, Minnesota. While I love all animals, horses have always had a special place in my heart. Growing up in the city, I never had the opportunity to own my own horse, so being a part of this team has been an amazing way to spend more time riding and to meet fellow riders. This will be my fourth year on the team and I can't wait for another year of riding, showing, and team shenanigans!”
