A dogs age doesn't determine weight. In all seriousness. The best way to have a healthy , balance, dog worth it's ideal weight. Is free feeding. People have a lot of thoughts,assumptions, things they've heard, ect. I been doing it for 15 years. I've never had a fight over food, I've never had obese, sloppy dogs, no health concerns or issues. 5/6 dogs eating out of the same bowl, at the same time. Intact males and females, ages range from 3 months thru 12 years old. I do monitor at times of someone is trying to be a bully. I don't allow 1 dog to eat before anyone else. My dogs don't scarf or inhale the food. 90% of the time it had to be implemented as a puppy. Once you get one free feeding. You can add as many did as you want. It's very challenging to train an adult dog to do this. Your dog looks good. Never control a dogs diet. Unless advised by a vet. Dogs naturally regulate their own body weight. Mother nature is amazing. Humans create the issue trying to improve and change everything.

Onyx passed away today. It's very hard losing dogs that your emotionally connected with. They're not just a dog. They are your peace when your dealing with chaos. They are your comfort when dealing with sorrow. They are the one thing you can share your ugliest secrets with and they won't tell a soul. No matter what you do they will love you. Many humans don't deserve dogs. Where they're mistreated, and discarded like they're nothing. You don't have to love dogs the way I do. But maybe you would if they saved you. The way they've saved me. I'm going to really miss her.
She ate pumpkin rind that was out for the chickens. She got a blockage and hemorrhaged. Im a strong believer in doing what's best for the dog. I will never selfishly make a dog suffer because I am not ready to say good bye. As much as they give you. That's the least you can give them. (Surgery is an option at times to fix this.) Emergency vet quote was $8,000.
