Work hard. Play hard.

We believe that dogs deserve the chance to play. More than that, we use play to build a trusting relationship. To reinforce their skills. And to teach new ones.

Easton here is practicing “drop” and “free” in between rounds of tug. A good way to wrap up his training after a big morning of socialization at Home Depot.

Tonight we want to give thanks to all of the families that make this work possible.

Thank you to our amazing staff that help provide a family feel to everything we do. And thank you to the families that support our team.

Thank you to the families that trust us with their dogs. We are forever grateful that you allow us the opportunity to work with your pups. It is a privilege we will never take for granted. We know they are family, too.

Happy thanksgiving.

Did you know we do house call?

While we won’t roll up with a medical bag of tricks, we do have in-home training available. Today we had a follow-up with previous board and train doggo, Lenny. Mom and dad are expecting. Family for the holidays. And a new little human before the end of the year. Milo and Syd went to help Lenny reinforce his “place” skills when company comes over. And guidance on how to prepare for the new baby.

We love getting to follow-up with our board and train dogs. And are thrilled to help their people continue the work at home.

Newbie alert!
Diamond joined us this morning to kick off her board-and-train program with Emma. She’s a sweet girl with a big prey drive—big enough that she’s been chasing birds… straight into traffic.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be helping Diamond build impulse control, confidence, and safe decision-making so she can enjoy her instincts without putting herself (or her humans) at risk.

Excited to watch this girl grow. 💎🐾

We spent the last six days getting Easton conditioned to a prong collar, working on heel, and looking at the handler. Throw in some exposure to lots of strangers out in the world, and this boy was on the right track for a field trip to the trails.

From kennel crazy and lunging at the end of his leash towards strange, to watching them while whining...this boy is heading in the right direction. This week we start to shape the expectations of how to act when new people approach. Underneath the big dog sounds is a nervous boy who needs guidance and confidence.

And don’t forget, he is looking for a home at the end of his program. If you know someone who might be interested, don’t hesitate to reach out. Easton is on his way to be a great dog.

Four days in and we’re already seeing a shift in Easton. His anxious energy is improving. His focus is improving. He is beginning to gain curiosity over reactivity with strangers. And he has discovered a love for treadmills.

Easton came to us from a very full and very overwhelmed rescue in the south. Watching him adapt to the structure of our board and train program is another reminder of why we do what we do. We are confident that he will walk out of here as a confident dog ready for a new chapter. Let us know if you are interested in this sweet goofball.

Meet Easton!

This anxious boy rolls in late tonight after a long trip up from New Orleans. Easton has been stuck in a rescue down there for over a year. His uncertainty with new people ends up coming out as loud barks and confused lunges. While he has no bite history, his presenting energy means he doesn’t stand a chance meeting potential adopters.

So…how did we get involved?

Our Kennel Manager, Syd, worked at that rescue before moving back North. It has always been their goal to stay in rescue to some degree or another. And when the conversation came up about how to start building up board and train experience, their rescue connection was the first thing that came to mind. Syd will be working with Easton to regulate his uncertainty, build up his confidence, and let his loving personality shine.

Stay tuned for his journey. And don’t worry, the rescue is happy to adopt him out to a home up here for those who fall in love with him.
