Hi all! Pippin here again (Pip for short 😉). In my 14 years of age, I've learned a thing or two about how to be safe year round, so I'm here today to share some of my summer tips with you!
Here are some essential summer pet safety tips:
It’s getting hotter outside, so it’s very important to know how to keep your pets safe and cool. Heat stroke can escalate quickly and become life-threatening before you even realize something is wrong!
☀️Early signs can include heavy panting, excessive drooling, vomiting, lethargy, or trouble walking. Some pets are at higher risk, especially flat-faced breeds like Bulldogs and Pugs, senior or overweight pets, and those with thick coats.
😎Prevention goes a long way. Avoid peak heat hours, never leave pets in a car, and make sure they always have access to shade and water. If you think your pet may be experiencing heat stroke, seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
‼️If you’re concerned, move your pet to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and use cool not cold water to help bring their temperature down while you head in to see your local emergency care team. ‼️
