Drop a ✋ in the comments if you’ve ever bought chicks and gotten the wrong breed.

This is a problem that makes me BIG MAD and I’ve built systems to prevent this from happening when you order from Sad Scientist Farm. Here’s what that looks like:

1. Full grasp of the genetics at play—I know what every chick should come out looking like so if a chick doesn’t match the rest, I know instantly.

2. Varieties are hatched separately—there are no hatching baskets with multiple breeds mixed together here.

3. Every chick is given a color-coded leg band when it’s pulled from the hatcher—nothing is left up to guesswork when I’m filling orders.

4. Sexing accuracy—this is my fourth season selling sexed chicks and I have never sold a chick that ended up being a rooster.

I understand how frustrating it is to receive the wrong chicks because it has happened to me. I know that most people don’t recognize the minor differences between varieties and often don’t realize they got the wrong chicks until months down the road. I know that customers trust that the breeder can tell their chicks apart and I take this very seriously.

I know y’all aren’t out here playing chick roulette at $20+ a pop and I appreciate your trust 😘
