Summer is one of the most beautiful times of year with our dogs and can be one of the most dangerous.

Hot pavement. Parked cars. Toxic algae. Heat stroke.
These 5 things are worth knowing before summer gets hot.

Save this for summer.

Most people don't notice muscle loss in their dog until it's significant. And by then, it's been happening for a while.
The truth is, the signs are there early. We just don't always know what we're looking for.
Swipe through, we want to show you what muscle loss actually looks like, why it's so easy to miss, and what you can do about it.
Because slowing down isn't just part of getting older. It's a signal worth paying attention to.

Every dog deserves a chance to feel good in their body. That belief is what started all of this.

I've been a veterinarian for over 30 years. Early in my career, I kept seeing the same thing, dogs in pain, struggling to move, and very few options beyond medication or surgery. I knew there had to be more we could do.

So I went looking.
I trained in rehabilitation, acupuncture, and sports medicine. I designed the first underwater treadmill for dogs. I opened the first veterinary rehabilitation clinic in the United States. Not because I was trying to be first, but because dogs needed it, and someone had to start.

Optimum Pet Vitality grew out of that same drive. I wanted to take everything I'd learned over decades of clinical practice and make it accessible to pet parents who love their dogs deeply and want to do right by them, and to veterinary professionals who are hungry for more tools to help their patients thrive.

This is why I do what I do. Every course, every resource, every conversation in our community, it all comes back to that one belief.

Every dog deserves a chance to feel good.

If you're new here, welcome. I'm so glad you found us.

Not all those who wander are lost." ~J.R.R. Tolkien

And for our dogs? Wandering IS the point.
Every sniff, every pause, every detour down that interesting patch of grass, it's not just a walk. It's mental stimulation, stress relief, and pure joy wrapped up in one outing.
Dogs experience the world through their nose. Letting them lead a little, explore freely, and follow their curiosity isn't just sweet, it's genuinely good for them.

So the next time your pup wants to stop and smell everything, let them wander.
