We’ve got a great lineup of clinics this summer! First up we have a Horseshoeing and Forging clinic with Colton Thornton. Colton has been a Certified Farrier for the last 5 years, taught at Oklahoma Shoeing School, and has competed at World Championship Blacksmith competitions. Whether you are a farrier looking to refine your forging skills, or an owner interested in learning and understanding the basics of shoeing your own horse, this clinic will cater to all skill levels. Dr. Megan Kelly of Brownes Bridge Veterinary Service will also be doing a limb dissection on Saturday to help attendees understand the anatomy of the equine foot and leg structure and how it relates to proper farrier work. Equine herpesvirus (EHV) is a family of equine viruses named by numbers including EHV-1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 with EHV-1,3,4 posing the most risk for domestic horses. EHV is a common DNA virus that occurs in horse populations worldwide. The two most common species are EHV-1 and EHV-4.

I spent this weekend teaching aspiring animal chiropractors how to appropriately adjust animals. These students are spending $8000-$10,000 to become certified in animal chiropractic. This is ON TOP of the $150-350,000 they are spending on chiropractic or vet school.
I have many people ask me if their kids can shadow me as they would like to do what I do. This career is no easy task. To LEGALLY adjust animals you must first attend either vet or chiropractic school (4 years) then you are eligible to take the chiropractic course. The course is an intense 6 months of focusing on anatomy, neurology, palpation, appropriate adjusting technique, and recognizing when a problem is not chiropractic. You must pass multiple tests, including an extremely intimidating AVCA exam. .
Anyone can pretend they know what they are doing, but make sure you research who you are paying to adjust your horses. AVCA certified doctors have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless hours ensuring we are truly helping your animal.

Baby horses need chiropractic too! We recommend that young horses are checked a couple times a year for nervous system optimization and for balanced growth & development. Well folks, we’ve relocated to north central Texas, and I couldn’t be more excited to start seeing horses in this state! My main focus will be offering chiropractic and acupuncture services with a whole body veterinary approach to healing and supporting the athlete, work, and pleasure horse alike.
