🚨 Flooding Emergency – Evacuating with Pets 🚨

If you or someone you know is evacuating in the Shiocton area, please don’t leave pets behind. With a little planning, you can get them out safely too 💙

Here’s how to evacuate different types of pets:

🐠 Fish
Use clean buckets or containers with lids.
Add tank water to reduce stress.
👉 Use a battery-operated air pump if you have one to keep oxygen levels up.
Keep water temperature as stable as possible and avoid overfeeding.

🦎 Reptiles & Amphibians
Place them in secure containers like pillowcases inside ventilated coolers.
This keeps them safe, dark, and less stressed.
👉 Add a towel for cushioning and to prevent sliding.
Avoid extreme temperatures—keep them warm but not overheated.

🐹 Small Animals (hamsters, guinea pigs, etc.)
Use secure travel carriers with bedding inside.
👉 Add a small amount of food and something familiar (like a hide or toy) to reduce stress.
Keep them in a quiet, temperature-safe area during transport.

⚠️ General Tips
✔ Bring extra food, water, and supplies if you can
✔ Label containers if you have multiple animals
✔ Never leave animals in a hot or cold vehicle
✔ Evacuate early if possible—don’t wait until it’s too late

If you cannot take your pet with you, please reach out for help—do NOT release them into the wild.
