Helping the Shelter Animals of Santa Rosa County FL

Helping the Shelter Animals of Santa Rosa County FL Sharing and Helping the Animals Located in the Santa Rosa County Animal Shelter. This page is ran by CARE of Santa Rosa County, FL. Help us, Help them!

We are a local non profit 501(c) 3 organization. This page was created to Bring Attention to the many animals in our local shelter, as many are never seen or given the chance to be adopted. We Network to find fosters, adopters and rescues for the animals to give them every chance to be seen and have a chance for life. Since this page was started, we have been able to get a good working relationshi

p with our shelter. We now have a photographer who is taking amazing photos for us, and the shelter reaches out for assistance on many animals who may not have had a chance, as they are trying to find help for them all. This page is not affiliated with the shelter in any way, nor do they monitor this page, or have knowledge of any comments, etc So its very important IF you see an animal you wish to adopt, rescue, foster, that you contact the shelter personally or get in touch with us, and we will do everything we can to help you. We have worked hard both for our shelter animals and to work with our shelter, so we can't allow any shelter bashing of any kind here, we understand and agree that many things need to be changed, but we are confident and have seen changes, and though the progress is slow, it is happening. Please do your part and SHARE these babies and SUPPORT your local shelter by volunteering, donating, fostering and Adopting! Some animals are not in "Adoptions" this is simply due to "space" and some are "rescue only" due to health issues, etc.. If you are interested in helping by fostering or adopting one of these babies, we would be happy to help you. If you are interested in fostering a specific baby or are just interested in fostering to save a life, please visit our website and fill out a foster application, we would be happy to work with you. We are always looking for fosters, to be able to help more animals. You can foster for us at CARE, or we can help you foster for another rescue! The important thing is to remember, FOSTERING SAVES LIVES! Please support your local shelter and help us make it a better place for our animals... Please help the animals by sharing and helping us help as many as we can!

πŸ“’ We are calling on our community for help πŸ“’

We are experiencing staff and volunteer shortages resulting from the impact of the COVID-19 situation. Today we have close to 200 animals in the shelter. We are calling on our community to help us get as many animals as possible out of the shelter.

🐾 ADOPTION AND FOSTER 🐾
To prevent dogs and cats from waiting for weeks in their kennels we are seeking adopters and foster homes. As much as we try, a shelter is not the same as a loving home. They are happier and healthier when they can spend time with people, socialize, and get lots of daily interaction.

πŸ• ADOPTION 🐈
We are reducing adoption fees for the remainder of the month. Adoption fees for dogs are $25 and cats are $10. The adoption includes spay or neuter and age appropriate vaccinations.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈFees are ALWAYS waived for military, reservists, national guardsmen, and veterans.

πŸ• FOSTER HOMES 🐈
If you are not able or ready to adopt, welcoming an animal into your home for a short period of time is a wonderful way to help. The animal is happy to get lots of attention, you get a buddy, and it opens up another kennel for another animal in need.
We are recruiting foster homes for animals who are currently in our care and seeking an additional 100 emergency fosters to be on standby ready to help as needed during the COVID situation.

πŸ– PET FOOD 🐟
We anticipate an increased need for dog, cat, and kitten food, and kitten milk for the next few months.
🦴 The dogs and cats asked us to tell you treats, chews, rawhides, and toys are also appreciated! 🧸

**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**
Please excuse my delay in posting

As of March 1st, 2020 The Shelter started using a new software program that no longer connects to Petharbor. As you know, I depended on petharbor to be able to post animals from the shelter. There may be another way that I can find in the future to be able to continue but not having links or organization makes it a challenge. As of now, its hard to distinguish the strays verses the adoptables etc. I am hoping this new software works out for the shelter and provides many benefits, most importantly I hope it helps the shelter babies......as that is all that matters...... As many of you know, I started this page in October of 2013, and have done my best to make this a "one stop place" for rescues, fosters, and all in the community to have a place to see/access all the babies in the shelters. I tried to keep everything organized by "found/stray" and "adoptables" along with the "happy tails"... My dream was always to just find a way to make ALL the shelter babies be seen... to be given EVERY chance.....It has been a HUGE part of my life for many years and I would be lying if I said this didn't upset me....I have faith and pray that whatever changes the shelter has made by doing this will outweigh any inconviences we have now and that in time be easier for everyone to access and help the babies more but.... Due to this change, sadly I can't continue to keep this page going.... not in the way It has been. I want to say "THANK YOU" to ALL Who have followed this page, and supported us... to ALL of the rescues/fosters/transporters/volunteers... to EVERYONE who cared and shared to help the babies be seen. Without ALL of you, this page would have never made it this far, I will forever be thankful to ALL of you...... I will always be thankful, for ALL the shelter babies who WERE helped because of this page, all those who decided to FOSTER, all the rescues who stepped up to SAVE them.... Because of this page, because of the SUPPORT of ALL OF YOU! Thank you........ Many lives were saved since 2013, BECAUSE of all of YOU.....and we have witnessed MANY changes, and I am sure many more will come....... Please don't give up on the shelter babies, please keep trying to help them........ Please consider volunteering at the shelter, please continue to foster........ please just don't give up on them...... ALL their lives matter, even when new changes make it a challenge, please...... don't give up on them....... Don't bash the shelter for these new changes, try to see the positive as hard as that may be...... in time, everything will hopefully get easier and more organized.... lets focus on the positive changes!

For now, if you wish you see the animals in the shelter here is the link.......

https://www.santarosa.fl.gov/387/Animal-Services

If you look on the "left side" you will see the links for adoptables and found/stray. It is not very user friendly right now, and honestly not as easy to look through etc BUT, hopefully all the kinks will be worked out and it will be better in time......

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, I am always here to help anyone in any way I can, however I can, that will never change......

Thank you all so much, hopefully one day I will be able to continue and find a way to help again, everyone stay positive.... and thank you all so much for the support over the last 7 years! Never forget the shelter babies, no matter what... they will always need us! Keep the faith!
