At Mills River Doodles we love supporting families and try to help them find their perfect fit even if it is not with us. We often refer to other breeders or rescues at times if our pups are not the right fit. Every individual family has certain things that they need in their next dog. Early morning trip for chicken jerky! As the pups get older we try to do more socialization activities as we go about our day. Today it was Miss Spacely’s turn! She made friends, rode in the crate in the car, and had some treats 🤗❤️. It was a great first shopping experience!

Bentley the red Merle Aussiedoodle loves splashing around in the pool this summer. His older , Aussiedoodle “brother” Boomer is not so sure 😂. It is a great way to burn off some extra energy and work on those muscles 💪 . If your Aussiedoodle and family enjoy water sports , check with your groomer on what is needed for maintenance. A shorter groom and plans for regular blow drying and visits to the groomer can keep your dog looking and feeling wonderful. Bentley has a wonderful groomer and keeps him looking sharp!

If you have a recent puppy from us they are at the perfect age to start activities like this! Australian Mountain Doodles and Aussiedoodles LOVE to learn new things and find activities that help them connect to their owners. Our Mountain Doodle Pups are working on new skills this week. At this age it is amazing how fast they catch on! Still plenty of wild puppy moments, and short attention spans…. But these girls are doing so well responding to early activities we have them doing. With consistency these girls could go far!
Rosie is calm, collected and well focused. She is sure to excel at anything her family decides to put her in! What would you teach her next?

Early Recall! When raising a puppy always keep your pocket full of kibble or treats ! Every moment can have a training opportunity. Rewarding the positive actions you see in your dog early on, helps build a relationship and predictably in your dog. “Charge” certain words or a clicker before heading out or going about your day and your dog will understand you and what you expect so much better .

“Manding” is the learned action of a dog or puppy sitting when approaching a human instead of the instinct of jumping. Now , at only 14 weeks these girls do not have it perfectly yet, but within just a few seconds of approaching me they all have a seat! They are fully expecting a treat , but that is a big way that dogs learn! Proud of these girls they are so eager to please.

She is a gorgeous Black Tri Teddy Bear. When we have older pups with us their training steps up as we prepare them to find their forever families . She is already very good during crate time and with her litter box training in her puppy area and so this week will start some early house training in our main living area and leash walking! What would you name this floppy eared teddy bear?
