What You’ll Do
As a Kennel Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and happiness of the animals under our care. Your responsibilities will include:

- Feeding, watering, and monitoring animals to ensure their comfort and health.

- Cleaning kennels, play areas, and other facilities to maintain a hygienic environment.

- Assisting with animal exercise and enrichment activities.

- Observing animal behavior and reporting any concerns to the team.

- Providing friendly and professional service to pet owners when needed.

What We’re Looking For
No prior experience? No problem! We’re looking for someone with:

- A love for animals and a commitment to their care.

- A self-motivated and trustworthy attitude.

- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- A willingness to take on physical tasks, such as cleaning and handling animals.

What We Offer

- Earned sick time: 1 hour for every 30 hours worked after 120 days of employment.

- PTO: Available after 2 years of full-time employment.

Yesterday, two kittens about 3-5 days old were dumped at our door with no notice. These poor kittens were left with no mother to feed from, no warmth, only a tiny little wash cloth in an open box. These kittens were covered in maggots, body temps were freezing and below normal, one of them had a broken front leg. We have no idea how long there were dumped outside our door. Absolute animal neglect and cruelty.

Dumping kittens at a vet in Michigan is considered animal abandonment, which is illegal under MCL 750.50. Owners are responsible for the animals' adequate care and are liable for the costs incurred by the vet, even if they relinquish their rights to the animal. While a vet can dispose of an abandoned animal after following strict notification procedures, the act of leaving the kittens is a separate legal offense.

Due to this happening on more than one occasion recently, we are now installing cameras on the doors of our facility covering all areas inside and out, including all parking lot areas. Anyone caught on camera dumping cats/kittens, wild life, canines, etc. will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Responsibilities
-Greet and welcome visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
-Answer incoming phone calls and route them to the appropriate personnel.
-Manage appointment scheduling and maintain the appointment calendar.
-Handle incoming and outgoing mail and package deliveries.
-Provide general information about the organization to guests and clients.
-Ensure the front desk area remains organized and presentable at all times.
-Assist with various administrative tasks as requested by management.

Requirements
-Proven experience as a receptionist or in a similar role is preferred.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
-Friendly and welcoming demeanor with a customer service orientation.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic office equipment.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
-High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications are a plus.
-Must be over the age of 18 and legally able to work in the US

ATTENTION OWNERS WITH THEIR PETS MICROCHIPPED

If your pet has a microchip from the company, called Save This Life, you are urged to re-register your pet’s microchip with another company ASAP.

That’s because if your pet has its Save This Life microchip scanned, owner information and data will no longer pop up, causing potential disaster if your pet gets lost. Your pet’s microchip will be untraceable.

If you are unsure here is what to do:

1.Find your pet’s microchip number. You can check your pet’s adoption papers or medical records to find the number, or have it scanned at a veterinarian’s office or animal shelter.

2. Look up the number to see what company it is registered with. You can use the American Animal Hospital Association website here, which will tell you what company the chip is registered with.

3. If the chip is registered with Save This Life, re-register it with another company ASAP. Some reputable options include AKC Reunite, PetLink, 24PetWatch, and HomeAgain. Make sure your contact information is up to date.
