It's that time of year again! Heartworm disease is a deadly canine and feline disease transmitted by mosquitoes. The good news is that this disease is PREVENTABLE!
We are currently treating several unfortunate animals for heartworm disease so contrary to the misconception that this disease is not common in Colorado, it is real and it is in our community.
Call 970-518-1252 to schedule a heartworm test and get your pet started on prevention ASAP. It could save their life.

We are saddened by Dr. McGreer's diagnosis but are optimistic that she will recover well and be back to her MAC family soon enough. She has a wonderful medical team planning her treatment and the type of cancer that she has is widely studied and very treatable. She has our love and support and we know that she would appreciate your support as well...

In her words:
As some of you may know, last month my family went on a much needed vacation. We had a wonderful time and were able to safely navigate during these crazy C19 times. However, It was on this trip that we found out the news my family and I had been dreading: I have breast cancer.

While this news was devastating for all of us, I am strong and all of my markers are good. This week I will begin my treatment with surgery, progressing to chemotherapy and radiation. I presently have a fantastic cancer team that has been guiding us through this uncharted territory.

Equally importantly, we have a phenomenal personal love and support system that has enveloped us and will continue to be invaluable. Accordingly, this means I will be taking an undetermined medical leave of absence from MAC.

To know me is to know that my profession is my passion. My patients and my clients are my extended family and to know I will miss so many joys and sorrows with all of you is
heartbreaking. Please know that I am there in spirit.

While I would love to be completely philanthropic frankly, this does suck. The photos and notes I have already received really have brought joy and smiles all around and made it all a little more
bearable. While I will not for obvious reasons be there in any medical capacity, if you would like to send a cute mug shot, quip, or quote to make the days go faster, I can be reached at:
[email protected] or through my MAC family.

I will miss you but I will be back. I just have to pause for a moment to kick this cancer’s A$$.
Losing is not an option.
Please take care of yourselves and each other.
Life is precious.

With love and light,
Dr. Brandy McGreer

We are back open for business! Please be patient with us as we are trying desperately to reschedule appointments that were cancelled during our absence. Thank you all again for your kindness and understanding as we get back to our routines. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
Please note that we are still operating curbside.

Edit: We will try to have 1-2 people at the clinic for a couple of hours a day to refill medications, etc. so that our patients are not without their necessities. PLEASE be kind to the staff! Cursing at them and asking if we are just going to watch your pet die is uncalled for. This is a real pandemic that is affecting us physically. There is only so much we can do and we are trying. Thank you to those of you who appreciate that. If you need refills or need to reschedule an appointment leave a message as you normally would and someone will get back to you.

Well, it has finally happened. We lost the battle we have been fighting since March to keep the dreaded COVID-19 from affecting our staff. A couple of our staff members were feeling under the weather on Wednesday so COVID tests were taken and we have just received notice that they have tested positive.

As you know, we have taken drastic measures to decrease the chances of the virus causing havoc within our walls. It seems that constant cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting and avoiding as much physical contact with our clients as possible was simply not enough.

We have made the decision to close the facility until Monday November 16. This will allow our staff to rest, recuperate and quarantine so that we are healthy enough to provide the gold standard of medicine that we pride ourselves in.

While we do not believe that every staff member is positive we do feel that closing temporarily is the most responsible decision in order to protect our clients, patients and those within the staff that have not yet been affected.

I can assure you that this was not a knee jerk decision. As a small business this will be difficult to overcome financially but we feel that the health of everyone that we come into contact with is more important than money lost. Those of you who have been long time clients know that money is never our driving force.

We have a few people at the clinic today calling those clients who have appointments for their pets scheduled for next week. We realize that this is frustrating for those of you who have been patiently waiting to have their pets seen. We will do our best to make sure that we are able to reschedule these appointments in as timely a manner as possible. Please keep in mind that we will most likely be busier than usual upon out return on the 16th but will do our best to assist you as soon as feasibly possible.

We will do our best to answer questions and help with medication refills via Facebook messenger but please understand that we are limited in what we can and cannot do in this situation.

As always, we appreciate you and your pets and look forward to getting back to what we do best. Please stay safe and well.

We are terribly sorry to report that due to illness we are severely understaffed and will close our doors at least until Monday November 9th. While no one on our staff has tested positive for COVID-19, we feel that this is the best decision for our clients and our staff. Our plan is to return to business as usual on Monday. If for some reason this is not feasible we will contact those with appointments over the weekend to get those rescheduled. In the meantime, if you have an emergency please contact your closest emergency clinic (there is a list on our website). We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience and we are so grateful for your understanding and patience. Stay well!

In true 2020 fashion, our main computer server has crashed. While this will certainly not effect the care we provide, please bear with us as referencing previous records and data may take more time than we would prefer and you may be asked for information you have already provided. As always, thank you for your patience and understanding.

As COVID-19 cases rise nationally and locally, we at Milliken Animal Clinic are committed to continuing to being here for you and your furry family members. As medical professionals, we acknowledge the risks associated with this virus and our building will remain closed until we deem appropriate. If we would have a positive case, it would require our temporary closure resulting in not only the loss of income for our employees, but our inability to continue to provide your pet quality, affordable care.
We know this may cause many owners anxiety but rest assured, your animal is getting the best care behind our walls. In fact, we have found many are behaving better than ever before due to less stress and noise in our facility. 😻
In addition, we ask that you wear your mask continually and appropriately when interacting with our medical staff in order to keep everyone safe. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
