So, apparently it is “take your chicken to work day” today.

I left this morning, with about an hour drive to the farm to trim feet. On the way I stopped at a red light in Corning, NY. Then I stopped at the Dandy Mini Mart in Beaver Dams, NY to use the restroom…

I got back in the truck and drove a few miles up the road to the farm. I backed the chute up to the barn and went in to prep the trimming area and open gates. Back the chute in, unhook, & drive my truck back outside to park it.

It was then I seen a chicken just wondering around just outside my driver door. At first, I thought, hey we have a chicken just like that, gray with puffy cheeks. Then she took a few steps and I immediately seen she limped just like our chicken. Then I realized, I’ve never seen any chickens at this farm before.

I called the farmer and he laughed and said they don’t have chickens. Then I immediately realized, it was my chicken that must have been roosting on the trim chute’s axle and rode all the way up there.

So we found a box and put her in it. She hung out in the barn behind the chute all day. She sure was happy to be home!!!

My niece dropped this calendar off over the weekend… we have a couple stashed away as well. The front cover is Tristyn & Shrek. Shrek passed away peacefully last spring 2025 at the age of 16yrs old. Tristyn is now 21 yrs old.

In this same calendar, both boys are pictured in June. My how time flys!!!

The last 3 pics are Shrek with Conner, Becky, & I in 2022…

Not sure why I haven’t been trimming Amish farms in the past, but I’ve just trimmed my 3rd one for this year… I found today very interesting to see how they “chop” first cutting hay. They just start chopping and filling silo yesterday…
