Apparently shelter dog adoption is of interest to even our slithery friends! After explaining to this large Rat Snake that he was not approved to adopt from the shelter for obvious reasons he had to be escorted out by Deputy DeWitt! 🌼🐾 A special thank you to Girl Scout Troop 777 for bringing some extra life and color to our paw print flower beds! 💚

Thanks to their hard work and dedication, our shelter is a little brighter and more welcoming for the dogs in our care, our visitors, and our community. These beautiful flowers will be enjoyed by countless wagging tails and smiling faces throughout the season.

We are incredibly grateful for Troop 777’s kindness, generosity, and willingness to give back. Thank you for helping make our shelter a more beautiful place for both people and pets! 🌸🐶🐾

🐾 Meet Maverick! 🐾

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you gave a puppy three energy drinks and then told him he was in charge? Meet Maverick!
Estimated to be about 8 months old, Maverick is a Mountain Cur mix with two speeds: GO and GO FASTER. He loves toys, other dogs (assuming they can keep up with his level of coolness), and cats. In fact, he thinks cats are just tiny dogs that bounce less.

Maverick is almost housebroken, loves to listen to his people, and is always ready for his next adventure. Car rides are one of his favorite things—although sometimes his stomach files a formal complaint about all the excitement.

Whether he’s carrying a toy, making new friends, or zooming laps around the yard for absolutely no reason, Maverick approaches every day with the enthusiasm of a kid who just heard school got canceled.

If you’re looking for calm and quiet… Maverick would like to respectfully suggest someone else. If you’re looking for laughter, fun, and enough energy to power a small town, he’s ready to meet you! ⚡🐾😂. Like Millie from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, our Millie is sweet, lovable, and occasionally surrounded by a little confusion. In her case, that confusion is called a leash.

Estimated to be about 1 year old, this German Shepherd mix may start out a little shy, but once she warms up, she’s all about cuddles, zoomies, and fun. She does well with our office cat and loves to play, run, and be near her people.

Millie may be timid at first, but give her a chance and she’ll be the star of your show in no time! 🐾❤️ Her adoption fee is $54 dollars, that includes a 7 way vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, microchip, 2026 Holmes county license, leash, collar, treats and toys!

🌮 Meet Taco! 🌮

Have you ever had a messy taco and lost half the ingredients before you could even take a bite? Well, this Taco is a little different—he’s got it all together!

Taco is around 2 years old and comes in what we like to call a “Labrascrudelious” package—the personality of a big dog packed into a body about the size of a Dachshund. He has great leash manners, gets along well with our office cat, and believes personal space is highly overrated. If you’re looking for a shadow, a lap dog, and a best friend all rolled into one, Taco is your guy.

Whether you’re relaxing on the couch, working around the house, or just looking for a loyal sidekick, Taco will happily stay attached to your hip every step of the way. All he’s missing is a family to call his own!
