Hey y’all, I’m Emily! If it has fur, feathers, scales—or even six legs—I probably love it. Growing up on a farm, I was always surrounded by animals, and that passion has only grown. Over the years, I’ve cared for everything from chickens and cows to turtles and wildlife.
These days, I’ve got a full house with four cats, two dogs, and a yellow-bellied slider (he runs the show, if you ask him). I also work with Baldwin County Animal Control, so I’m no stranger to all kinds of critters and their care.
Animals are truly my heart, and I can’t wait to love on your fur babies like they’re my own!

Meet Erin – Our Newest Team Member at Mari’s Critter Care!

We’re thrilled to officially welcome Erin to the Mari’s Critter Care family!

Erin is a Georgia native currently serving the Madison, Greensboro, and Eatonton areas. With years of hands-on experience in the pet care world (she humbly says it’s been “longer than she’d like to admit”!), Erin brings both passion and expertise to every visit.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Georgia and a Basic Dog Obedience Training Certificate. Erin specializes in leash work, in-home behavioral science, and command training—and she’s comfortable with all kinds of animals.

Beyond her professional background, Erin and her husband live in Madison with their son and two beloved rescue pets. They’ve also fostered over 20 dogs, showing just how deep her dedication to animal care runs.

We’re so lucky to have her on board, and we know you and your pets will love her as much as we do!

Please help us give Erin a warm welcome in the comments!

Springtime Reminder for Pet Parents!
With the warmer weather, birds are busy nesting—and a favorite spot this time of year is your front door wreath! We’ve seen several clients find sweet little nests tucked right into their decorative greenery.

Please take a quick peek before opening and closing your front door, especially if you’ve noticed more bird activity than usual. Sudden movement can disturb the nest or even knock it down.

Let’s help keep those baby birds safe this season!

Help Our Hummingbirds Thrive!

If you're putting out a hummingbird feeder (thank you!), here’s how to do it right to keep them safe and healthy:

The Recipe (No red dye needed!):
Mix 1 part white sugar with 4 parts water.
Boil the water, dissolve the sugar, let it cool, and fill the feeder.
Example: 1 cup sugar + 4 cups water

Cleanliness is Key:
Clean your feeder every 2-3 days in hot weather, and at least once a week in cooler temps.
Use hot water and a brush—no soap needed. You can also soak the feeders in vinegar and water for an hour to help loosen dirt off
Moldy feeders can make hummingbirds very sick.

Why no red dye?
It’s unnecessary and potentially harmful. Most feeders are red enough to attract them.

Let’s keep our little winged friends happy and healthy!
