Scouts Honor 2025 Hall of Fame Inductee

Avaya and Gadget and Sophia and Maeve were just barely out of the ribbons for their divisions. They rode well all season and both worked hard and have great goals for 2026.

I am so proud of all these girls and horses and cannot wait to see what 2026 brings.

We had a great time at the SWVHJA Banquet tonight. So many awards for me and my girls. I am so proud. I was so happy to have Adam and Emmy along with me for the first time since she was an infant.

Highlights for me:

Scout was officially awarded his Hall of Fame award. It was really fun to relive the moments of his induction back in the fall. He is a unicorn in every sense of the word and I am honored to have him among the greatest horses and horseman in our organization. I can’t wait to show him his award tomorrow. Making my dreams come true one more time. The pony of a lifetime.

Jackson and I won the Low Hunters for the year. This was especially sweet because I showed less this year than I think I ever have. I worked hard each show and Jackson and I have such a special partnership and connection that it paid off for us. He is truly a once in a lifetime horse. I have had much success on him and he has taught me a lot. He is my heart horse and I have cherished every single moment with him. He is going to be taking a little break from me to help Mackenzie learn and grow while her new horse is getting made up into a show girl. I am excited to see Jackson bring another kid along and I feel good being able to let him teach Mac so I can focus on Magnolia and Peach this year.

Magnolia and I finished 7th in the Thoroughbred Hunters and 8th in the Thoroughbred Recognition award. Again with minimal showing, mags got better and better each show and finished the year in October with one of our best shows yet. I am really excited to finally have her at the top of my priority list and see what we can accomplish together.

Group photos and results to come. I am so looking forward to the 2026 season with my girls and barn family and see where we all are this time next year.

And that’s a wrap on the 2025 show season and SWVHJA Annual Show 2025. What a week!! This has probably been my favorite Annual show to date with so many memories made.

First thing I want to do is thank everyone involved with making this show so much fun, the SWVHJA board, volunteers, management, all of it. It was a great horse show and we had a fantastic time. Second a huge thank you to Renee, AJ, Becka, and Clo for taking care of all the horses at home all week so that was one less thing for me to have to do and worry about. Thank you to my riders and their parents and significant others for the fun week, excellent rides, good sportsmanship, and promptness. Thank you to the horses for being so well behaved and doing this job for us. I am so so so proud of all my girls! Y’all make me look good!!

Katie and Finn stepped up in a HUGE way and Finn was so good for 5 days in a stall at the horse show. They finished with a 3rd in the Sweet Briar Medal Qualifier, 6th in the TB under saddle, 6th in the Sweet Briar Medal Finals, and 10th in a HUGE Jr Eq Championship.

Jamison and Z had a great show as well an Z was very well behaved for 5 days at the show as well. They finished with a 3rd in a TB over fences class and a 5th in a jumper class (which is what she really wanted, a ribbon in a jumper class) 🤪

Mac and Rain had 2 3rds and 2 5ths in the Large Ponies and a 7th in a HUGE pony classic. They ribbon in every single class they entered. This was Mac and Rain’s last show together as their lease is up. It is so bittersweet. We will miss Rain so much but really appreciate Scarlet entrusting us with him the last 2 seasons and he has really taught Mac a lot.

Avaya and Gadget had really great rides over the last 2 days in the Intermediate Eq finishing today with their best course of the weekend.

Sophia and Maeve also had excellent rides this weekend and also finished with their best course of the weekend and Maeve behaving like the best girl ever all weekend.

Emmy and Scout earned the coolest unicorn ribbon ever in the Leadline and had the best time doing it! 🦄

Luke and Gadget also earned a unicorn ribbon in the Leadline and had a blast. Luke was so brave on Gadget.

And best of all, Scout’s Honor was inducted into the SWVHJA Hall of Fame. It is an incredible honor. He is now among the greatest horses and riders in our organization. I am honored he was added to this incredible list.

Time to rest and look towards 2026.

There will never in my lifetime be the proper words to describe this afternoon. I started this Leadline class already emotional taking Emmy around the Wiley arena on Scout where I took him around his first SWVHJA Annual horse show. I was emotional already just experiencing that absolute full circle moment of my daughter riding my 30 year old pony around the same arena I did when I was 12 and he was 6.

But, it got even better. Scout’s Honor was inducted into the SWVHJA Hall of Fame this afternoon after his last trip to the horse show and last walk around the same ring we walked his first SWVHJA Annual show in.

I am absolutely honored and so proud of the greatest pony to have ever lived. 11 year old me is absolutely beaming and so is 34 year old me. I wish more than anything my Mimi could have been there today. But I know she and Sally Lamb were watching from Heaven and I know they were so so proud too.

Thank you, Scout. The pony of a lifetime and love of my life. I will never ever forget this moment. 🦄💜🩵

The end of day 4 at SWVHJA Annual. Team VF is having a really great show so far with 1 more day to go of horse showing. I am so so so proud of everyone this week. The ribbons are a bonus, but the hard work, support, and fun everyone has put in to this show so far has made it one of my favorite annual shows to date.

We asked Finn a big question this week, to step up to the 2’9” and qualify for the Sweet Briar Medal Finals. Katie and Finn competed in the Sweet Briar Medal Finals today and finished 6th. Finn’s second ever 2’9” course and Katie rode him beautifully. They also finished 10th in a huge Junior Eq Championship class out of about 18 riders. Finn has risen to the occasion in a big way this week and I am so proud of Katie’s hard work and resilience.

Mac and Rain earned an awesome 3rd and 5th in the Large Pony Hunters with some killer trips. And earning a 75 in their first Classic round which will finish up tomorrow.

Avaya and Sophia were both brilliant in the Intermediate Eq and were very patient and sportsmanlike after waiting ALLLLLL day to show.

Jamison and Z are wearing their jumper hats to the remainder of the weekend and having some fun in a bit different ring!

And of course we can’t forget Emmy and Luke with their Leadline wins.

Last day of competition tomorrow to close the book on the 2025 show season.

Good first day of showing for . Classes preventing me from being there this morning but thank you to Mike and Holly Morris for helping Katie today until I got there. Katie and Finn had some beautiful rounds in the TBs so I am told as well as Jamison and Z.

Katie and Finn also stepped up to 2’9” for the first time ever and entered the Sweet Briar College Medal qualifier and ended up 3rd, qualifying them for the finals on Saturday.

Jamison and Katie wrap up their hunter division tomorrow and then in come the 4 ponies!!

Back at it for day 3 tomorrow!
