Happy Life, Sassy! ❤️

This beautiful young husky was failed twice by the humans who were supposed to love her forever. She first ended up at Merced County Shelter and was adopted, only to find herself back in the shelter system months later at Animal Friends of the Valley in Southern California.

When we rescued her, she needed extensive dental work for a severely cracked canine tooth. Thanks to our incredible supporters, we were able to provide the surgery she needed and give her a fresh start.

Today, we are overjoyed to share that Sassy has found her forever family, a family that adores her and is committed to giving her the stability and love she has always deserved.

This is why we rescue! To give dogs like Sassy a second, sometimes third, chance. To rewrite their stories and ensure they never have to wonder where they belong again.

We love you so much, Sassy. Happy life, sweet girl. ❤️

A huge thank you to her wonderful foster, Amr, for opening your heart and home to her and helping make this happy ending possible. We couldn’t do it without you.

WATCH UNTIL THE END AND SHARE!

The videos at the beginning of this reel are from when Blu was in one of his foster homes before we were convinced by Shannon Miranda that this was a great opportunity for him.

What kills me is if he had a problem with Blu all he had to do was call me and we would’ve been right back there to get him.

Blu was not a bad dog! He was an athlete. This boy could scale fences like you would not believe the second he decided he wanted to. An urban environment was not ideal for a dog like Blu.

During the eight months he was with our rescue, he bounced from experienced foster home to experienced foster home up and down the West Coast. We were constantly worried he was going to get hit by a car, injure himself, or hurt another animal. Blu had a high prey drive, like many huskies and shepherd mixes do, and when you combine that with escape artist tendencies in a busy urban environment, it becomes incredibly difficult and dangerous.

Despite those challenges, Blu was incredibly loving and adoptable. He adored his people and had so much potential to thrive in the right home. He didn’t need to be changed, he just needed the right environment and someone to say yes to him. A rural setting with secure space to run and explore would have been far safer for him than busy city streets.

We were sold a dream by Shannon Miranda, just like thousands of others over the 30 years he operated. He came with awards, recommendations, and credibility. This man could talk, and he fooled so many people.

I can’t even begin to describe the guilt. This is one of those situations that will never leave me. I will never stop thinking about Blu.

Blu deserved a happy life, but instead his story became part of something much bigger and far more painful 💔

Blu, I hope you are out there. I hope we get answers. And I hope that by continuing to tell your story, we can help ensure that what happened to you is never forgotten and justice is served. You deserved so much more than this.

Please share this post and send along any information about Blu, no matter how small. Tips can be shared anonymously, no questions asked!

Bowser is out of surgery, and now we urgently need your help covering the cost.

Before we rescued Bowser, the shelter had already removed his left eye due to cataract complications, but they left his right eye. Unfortunately, that remaining eye was starting to have issues as well.

His retina was no longer functioning, meaning he could not see from that eye. Because of that, he walks into things and developed a painful ulcer. His severe cataract in his remaining eye had a high risk of continued complications and pain. He was not a candidate for cataract surgery.

We were faced with a difficult decision: leave the eye and wait for more problems to develop, or remove it before it caused him any further suffering. After everything Bowser has been through, we knew the kindest choice was to give him the chance at a pain-free life.

This sweet boy has already endured more than any dog should. He deserves comfort. He deserves peace. He deserves to enjoy the rest of his life without pain.

Unfortunately, surgery comes at a cost, and we urgently need donations to help cover Bowser’s medical bill. Every dollar donated helps not only Bowser, but also allows us to continue saving dogs on the euthanasia list who have nowhere else to turn.

Please consider making a donation today. No amount is too small, and every contribution helps change a life.

Thank you for loving Bowser as much as we do!

Meet Cowboy 🤍

Cowboy was found as a stray in Perris, California, and while we may never know what his life looked like before rescue, it’s clear he’s been through a lot. This sweet boy has the cutest little legs and the gentlest soul. He’s shy at first and needs someone patient who will give him the time and space to decompress and learn that the world is safe again.

Here’s the latest update from his foster:

Pros:
• Super calm and mellow
• House-trained
• Can be left alone for several hours
• Hardly ever barks
• Gentle when taking treats by hand
• Food motivated
• Non-reactive around cats
• Started playing with the resident dog and enjoys being close to him
• Adjusts well to other dogs after slow introductions
• Follows his foster around wagging his tail
• Recently started showing his playful side with zoomies and morning excitement 🥹

Things he’s still working on:
• He allows pets but is still learning to seek out affection and trust people fully
• Nervous getting into cars
• Scared of dogs while out on walks

Cowboy is the kind of dog that will absolutely blossom with patience, routine, and love. Watching him slowly come out of his shell has been so rewarding, and we know his perfect person is out there.

If you’re looking for a calm companion and understand the beauty of letting a shy dog move at their own pace, Cowboy could be your guy. Apply to foster or adopt through Love’s Legacy Rescue.

Aspen is in urgent need of a foster or forever home!!

We rescued her from SEAACA after she was placed on the euthanasia list for absolutely no reason other than the shelter being overcrowded. At around 6 years old, Aspen found herself sitting alone in a kennel, completely overlooked and running out of time.

And honestly… she is the kind of dog that breaks your heart once you meet her.

She is the sweetest, gentlest potato. Potty trained, crate trained, calm, quiet, and happiest just laying next to her people. She is not asking for much. Just safety. Just love. Just someone who won’t give up on her.

After everything she has been through, Aspen deserves so much more than bouncing around and waiting for someone to choose her. She deserves a couch. A soft bed. A person to call her own.

She can be selective with other dogs and prefers calm, respectful introductions because she does not like dogs constantly in her space. But we truly believe with patience and the right match, she could peacefully coexist with another calm dog.

Please don’t let this sweet girl continue to be overlooked.

Aspen is available for adoption on the West Coast. If you are interested in meeting her, please visit loveslegacyrescue.com.

She will also be at our adoption event this weekend at Spot Grooming in Mill Valley from 11–2.
