It is with heavy, broken hearts that we share the news that on Monday April 12 we lost our beloved Dipsea to a heart condition. Thankfully, we were with him when he passed, whispering to him about how much we loved him, and how much love and happiness he brought to our lives. It goes without saying that we are devastated, in shock, and at a loss for words. Dipsea was one of the greatest gifts we’ve ever received. He brought 180 pounds of joy and smiles to everyone he met. He was the gentlest, kindest, wisest, most compassionate animal we’ve ever known, and right now it’s very difficult to imagine how we’re going to get used to life without him.
Dipsea packed a lot of fun and adventure into his short but beautiful life. Some things Dipsea loved: Cuddling, sharing apples and peanut butter with his mom, running with his dad, stealing food from tables and counters, elk antlers, visiting his grandpa’s ranch in Montana, his work as a therapy dog for Marin Humane, pizza crust, broccoli, sunbathing on a lounger in the backyard, smelling flowers, ear rubs, butt scratches, frolicking in creeks and rivers, playing in the snow, sneaking strawberries from the garden, singing along with fire engines, hiking through the redwoods, salmon, long walks in rainy Irish weather, playing with his little brother, and giving sloppy, wet kisses, even to strangers. A month shy of his 6th birthday, he left us way too soon.
If you knew Dipsea, please feel free to leave us a memory or tribute to him in the comments below.
Rest in Peace, you sweet, magical creature, and doggie soul love of our lives.
