There are so many CT rescues begging for fosters, and so many pounds in CT that are full to overflowing. FFFR hasn't been able to take any new dogs for an unbelievably long FOUR YEARS! We won't be able to do that until we are reliably able to cover the cost of care for our current dogs and begin to pay down a massive amount of debt. We want so badly to be able to help! If you, like we do, want to be part of the solution, please donate today as generously as you can. Please join with us to help us help the dogs that need us the most!

URGENT! Please read!
From FFFR's President:

Rescues and pounds are posting daily about the crisis in CT. They are over-full. Adoptions and donations are both at an all-time low. Owners wanting to surrender dogs, and dogs being abandoned, abused, and neglected are at an all-time high. For four very long years our rescue has been unable to do anything to help. If you care about the dogs, if you value what we have done and want to continue to do, please donate! Small donations add up! If you can donate monthly, it helps to give us a reliable cash flow. One-time donations are also so very deeply appreciated, no matter the size!

Here are the programs that have been on hold since the end of 2021. We cannot open any of them without funding for the 10 dogs who currently remain in our care.

Regular adoptions program : Focused on local CT dogs in pounds, and local privately owned dogs whose owners need to surrender them to a rescue. FFFR provides comprehensive medical care, any training or rehabilitation needed. Dogs live in carefully screened foster homes until they can be placed in carefully screened forever homes. FFFR covers all costs for the dogs in our care – medical, food, equipment – everything!

Seniors for Seniors program : Matches senior dogs (7+ years old) with senior citizens (65+ years old). Adoption fee is subsidized by 50% for seniors on fixed incomes.

Temporary Foster Care program : Provides up to 6 months of temporary foster care for dogs whose families are dealing with crisis – homelessness, addiction treatment, medical issues, etc. There is an application process an a contract. Dog is brought utd and FFFR covers all care for the 6 month period. All dogs are spayed/neutered by us if not already done. We verify with the owner that the issue has been appropriately addressed and that they are able to once again provide a stable home for the dog, before returning the dog.

Additionally, we have recently posted a new initiative for which we’re raising funds. Blaze’s Legacy Fund will help owners keep their dogs by providing financial support for unexpected major medical issues. There will be an application process and all funds will be paid directly to the veterinary practice. All dogs will be required to be spayed/neutered – if they have not yet had that surgery, FFFR will arrange for it to be done and cover the cost. We cannot implement this program until it is funded. Our ability to help is 100% dependent on donations.

Please donate today so that FFFR can be part of the solution! Your donations make you an indispensable part of our rescue team!

Courtesy post - this dog is not in our rescue! We are posting to help the owner find a home for her dog safely. We will be screening applications and then forwarding them to the dog's owner. Any adoption will be directly between the adopter and Arnie's current owner. He is part of our direct rehoming program.
If you would like to adopt Arnie, please fill out an application: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

If you are a rescue in CT or one of the surrounding states (if you're not in CT you need the licensing needed to import into your state) and have room for Arnie and a foster available (he wouldn't do well in a shelter setting) please private message our page!

NOW: Meet Arnie :)

Arnie is a 7-year-old pomeranian.

Arnie prefers a home with a family with a quiet lifestyle. He will do best in an adult home with people who are home at least part of the time. If you are retired or work from home, Arnie and your family might well be a fabulous match for each other!

He will do well in a home with adults only, or with respectful older children. The current owner has a granddaughter, and Arnie isn't happy with all of the activity a small child brings to a home. He hasn't shown any aggression at all - it just makes him anxious.

Arnie is house trained and crate trained, and knows his basics. He is a great family member and is 1000% accustomed to living in a home.

He is also neutered.

He is good with other dogs and even good with cats!

Arnie has a low activity level and just loves attention and cuddling up with you
