This is serious! Please read!
From FFFR's President:
Rescues and pounds are posting daily about the crisis in CT. They are over-full. Adoptions and donations are both at an all-time low. Owners wanting to surrender dogs, and dogs being abandoned, abused, and neglected are at an all-time high. For four very long years our rescue has been unable to do anything to help. If you care about the dogs, if you value what we have done and want to continue to do, please donate! Small donations add up! If you can donate monthly, it helps to give us a reliable cash flow. One-time donations are also so very deeply appreciated, no matter the size!

Here are the programs that have been on hold since the end of 2021. We cannot open any of them without funding for the 10 dogs who currently remain in our care.
Regular adoptions program : Focused on local CT dogs in pounds, and local privately owned dogs whose owners need to surrender them to a rescue. FFFR provides comprehensive medical care, any training or rehabilitation needed. Dogs live in carefully screened foster homes until they can be placed in carefully screened forever homes. FFFR covers all costs for the dogs in our care – medical, food, equipment – everything!
Seniors for Seniors program : Matches senior dogs (7+ years old) with senior citizens (65+ years old). Adoption fee is subsidized by 50% for seniors on fixed incomes.
Temporary Foster Care program : Provides up to 6 months of temporary foster care for dogs whose families are dealing with crisis – homelessness, addiction treatment, medical issues, etc. There is an application process an a contract. Dog is brought utd and FFFR covers all care for the 6 month period. All dogs are spayed/neutered by us if not already done. We verify with the owner that the issue has been appropriately addressed and that they are able to once again provide a stable home for the dog, before returning the dog.
Additionally, we have recently posted a new initiative for which we’re raising funds. Blaze’s Legacy Fund will help owners keep their dogs by providing financial support for unexpected major medical issues. There will be an application process and all funds will be paid directly to the veterinary practice. All dogs will be required to be spayed/neutered – if they have not yet had that surgery, FFFR will arrange for it to be done and cover the cost. We cannot implement this program until it is funded. Our ability to help is 100% dependent on donations.
Please donate today so that FFFR can be part of the solution! Your donations make you an indispensable part of our rescue team!
