As the FFFR President, I am reaching out to you, my rescue's friends and followers and animal advocates, to humbly ask for your help. It is the end of the month again! Each month, it is a struggle to cover the costs of care for the 10 dogs remaining in our rescue. We are coming to you with our bank account and our pockets empty, asking for you to please donate.

As a 501(c)(3) public charity, FFFR depends on donations to be able to meet our commitments to our dogs. Recently donations have been fewer and fewer, and smaller and smaller.

We get it! It feels like everyone is struggling. However, our dogs still need to eat. We have two forever foster dogs still needing prescription food and medications. Two other dogs need the cost of boarding covered until we can find foster or forever homes for them. And there is always the unexpected visit to the vet. Because dogs get sick, just like children do.

For over four long years we have been unable to take any new dogs into the rescue. In 2021 we made decisions with our hearts rather than our heads, and over extended ourselves badly. We ended up deeply in debt, and try as we have, we've been unable to generate sufficient income to care for our current dogs and also chart a path forward as a rescue.

The rescue world today is in dire straits. Every day we see posts on Facebook about dogs being dumped, abandoned, abused, and neglected. We desperately want to be able to help. We can't do that, though, until we can reliably cover the cost of care for our current dogs.

Please help! We are falling far short and we desperately need your assistance. We have 75,000 people following our page. If just a small fraction of you are able to give only $5 or $10, we'll be able to move forward.

Please donate today! The dogs need us and we need you!

"It always takes a village." All of the dogs in this collage were once at Waterbury Dog Pound and are now either happily adopted or with reputable rescue organizations, waiting for their forever families to find them. YOU can help other dogs like them!

Be part of the solution - adopt - and if you can't adopt, foster - and if you can't foster, support a rescue by volunteering or donating. Rescues can't help any of these dogs without support. Rescues are full to overflowing, the same as the pounds are. Adoptions are at an all-time low for both pounds and rescues. Donations have dwindled to practically nothing. Neither the pounds like Waterbury nor rescues can facilitate change *without your help*!

Wow! It’s amazing to see how many folks are fired up about helping the dogs of the Waterbury Dog Pound! ❤️🐾

We love the energy. The dogs love the energy. But let’s channel that energy into things that actually make tails wag ⤵️

🐶 1️⃣ Adopt locally. Every pound and rescue in Connecticut is full to the brim. Seriously, it’s standing-room-only out there. Rescues are packed, fosters are maxed, and everyone’s running on caffeine and hope.
👉 You want to see a dog saved? Save it. Go adopt. There’s no better feeling.

🐾 2️⃣ Can’t adopt? Be a foster hero. Fostering saves lives: plain and simple. If you’re interested in fostering one of the WDP dogs, reach out to your local rescue and fill out a foster app. They’ll set you up with the supplies, you just bring the love (and maybe a mop, puppies gonna puppy).

📣 3️⃣ Network the dogs. Every share, like, and “omg look at this face 😭” helps get eyes on these pups. The right person can see one post and bam, a dog’s life changes forever. Help reach out to rescues individually… Sometimes it takes more than just sharing the post. Track a Rescue down, message their page or send an email directly with an individual dog with an explanation why you would like to see that dog pulled. Offer to help that Rescue transport if you can. We could really use the help doing this type of legwork! It can make such an impact! 🐾

🎁 4️⃣ Donate! The Waterbury Dog Pound has an Amazon Wishlist for treats and new beds. They can also always use thin, absorbent blankets and towels (no fluff — fluffy = dangerous for dogs). Got some extras? Drop ’em off!

🏛️ 5️⃣ Take part in your local government. If you live in Waterbury, show up at a Board of Aldermen meeting! Residents can speak for five minutes — use them! Tell your Aldermen you want more help and more visibility for the dogs. Local voices = local change.

We’re just regular people who saw a need in the city and decided to do something about it. We run on positivity, persistence, and sheer willpower. Since this page started in July, we’ve:
✅ Gotten professional assessments for the dogs
✅ Helped them get to rescue and adopted
✅ Built a growing network of folks who care deeply

And none of that would’ve been possible without the ACO team, our amazing rescues, fosters, adopters, and you: our incredible community. 💙

Yes, rescue is exhausting and oftentimes sad. But we keep showing up, because every single success story matters.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a better pound. But we’re getting there, one dog, one post, one miracle at a time.

Just to clarify! All these pups are safe with adopters or rescues due to the support of this community!

Franny is all bundled up for her walk this morning!

Francine is about 4 years old, spayed, vaccinated and had a negative 4DX! She is very food motivated, loves her walks and is so affectionate. Franny must be in a home with no young children, cats or dogs! She has to be the only pet. Francine will make a great companion and will happily go on every car ride with you. We love her and has become our shadow here but she is so deserving of a home. We have received lots of applications for her but if you have other animals or young children in your home please understand that is why we have not contacted you about her.

Contact us to meet Franny!!! 860 464 9621
