When there is poor air quality outside it is best to limit outdoor time for pets! They can be more sensitive to particulates in the air than we are. It can irritate their eyes and lungs. Special consideration should be taken for dogs and cats that are brachycephalic (short muzzled), elderly, have heart conditions, or asthma, as the poor air quality will impact them more.

When there is an alert for poor air quality, such as from wildfire smoke, the pollution concentrations and particulate matter in the air can reach hazardous levels that are unhealthy for the general population, including our pets.

Hi pet parents- try to avoid dog treats that contain a lot of molasses. It’s used as a filler and a preservative but it’s still sugar and it isn’t good for dogs teeth or their gut. I used to see it as a more mininimal ingredient but lately I am seeing it in treats as the second or third ingredient which is way too much sugar! It’s great to get in the habit of flipping a bag of treats over and checking out the ingredients list. -Sophia
