**** WITH BARC CT 11/22/2025

UPDATE: sadly, 9 hours of questions and endless personal opinions flooding comment section but ZERO viable applications to foster this poor dog.

They will continue to remain in this awful situation until someone decides to step and open a space in their home to foster this dog.
Maybe it will take days or weeks. Or perhaps the owner stops responding and finally gives the dog away. That happens a lot.
It’s cold tonight and all we can do is pray for their safety.

——-

We get so many emails every single day that it’s impossible to open them all, but on Monday one came in that really broke us. 💔A Connecticut man, homeless and living in his car with his dog reached out for help. He loves his dog and refused to abandon him but has no idea what to do.

Connecticut Animal Control shelters told him no, call around to rescues . . .

Rescues told him
no, call around to shelters . . .

Repeat 🔁

They’re living in a car.

BARC’s Tracy and Kaileigh went to meet him and his dog yesterday and brought food, supplies, and basic care items. The dog was incredibly friendly. He leaned in for head pets and took treats gently. Even in these awful circumstances he was sweet, trusting, and clearly very loved.

As many of you already know, our state provides no immediate option to dog owners in crisis who need to surrender their dog to a CT shelter. Even 👏🏻 in a case 👏🏻 like 👏🏻 this. That means this young man — who is living through one of the hardest, most dehumanizing situations a human being can face and still showing compassion for his dog— cannot simply walk into a CT shelter and surrender his dog.

In CT, the options are:
1. Abandon your dog on the street which is against CT law.
2. Post your dog on these evil free CT pets pages via social media, knowing the dog ends up in a far worse, dangerous situation.

So, we need your help right now. Please SHARE for Stormy so we can rescue him ASAP!

Stormy
Pit bull mix with furry ears 😍🥹
4–5 years old
Neutered
Previously lived with female dogs in the same living space.
Excellent with all humans
Strong on leash but easily corrected
Knows basic commands
House trained
About 60 lbs
Friendly with all people, even strangers

Stormy is living in a car. His owner had run out of food (for both of them) until BARC was contacted and immediately stepped in.

He needs emergency placement. Must be a homeowner. Due to the specific circumstances, BARC is seeking a foster in order to get Stormy safe & decompressed until we find his forever home.

****READ 2 WEEK DECOMPRESSION BEFORE APPLYING**** We can loan you a crate if you do not have one 🙂 BARC covers cost of food and vet care while in foster!

Fosters must live in CT. Adopters can be in nearby states. No kids for fosters under BARC’s care. 17+ is permitted.

Pleade hurry: BARC-CT.org/foster

The homeless man does not need assistance, he has a plan set up but cannot execute said plan until Stormy is in BARC’s care. Let’s focus on getting Stormy into foster with BARC.p rd
