We’re almost there! 👟

HSNWIA has collected 116 bags toward our goal of 121 bags in our shoe drive and we’re still collecting through the end of this month!

Every bag donated helps support the operational and building costs that keep our mission moving forward and allow us to continue serving our community.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, and supported so far. Let’s finish strong! 💙

A huge thank you to the Spirit Lake Noon Kiwanis Club 4th graders for visiting us and donating $550 from your bake sale! Your generosity helps sponsor the kennel our boy Bagheers calls home. We loved having you spend time playing with our cats and dogs, too! Thank you for making such a big difference for our shelter pets!

Meet our Working Whiskers cats!

Not every cat dreams of life on the couch and for some, a barn, shop, garage, or workshop is exactly where they thrive. These independent cats prefer a little space, a safe place to rest, regular food and water, and someone who cares from a distance.
In return? They’ll happily help keep mice and pests under control while living their best lives.

All of our Working Whiskers cats are:
• Spayed or neutered
• Up to date on vaccines
• Looking for a safe barn, shop, or outdoor working home

Adoption is just $25.

We currently have cats ready to go right now and are actively looking for barns, shops, sheds, warehouses, and outdoor spaces that could use a hardworking mouser.

We are thrilled to feature Dr. Reid Den Herder from Dickinson County Animal Clinic for our very first segment of ask a vet! Bringing a new family member home is incredibly exciting, but it’s completely normal to have a few questions along the way. We sat down with Dr. Den Herder to talk through exactly what new pet parents can expect at their first vet visit.

A massive thank you to DCAC for being such a wonderful partner and a huge supporter of our mission. They do so much for our animals, including an incredible perk for our adopters: All pets newly adopted from our Humane Society get their first vet visit at DCAC completely free of charge!

Yesterday, our team drove down to Des Moines to pick up a few new friends in hopes of increasing their chances of finding a home.

They said yes.

Last week, we asked a simple question again and again: Will you be the reason they go home?

From Monday through Friday, you answered in the best way possible. In just three days, ten animals left our shelter for their forever homes.

Because of your support, lives changed. Dickinson County Animal Clinic stepped in to sponsor Harley and Musa, and helped make Maggie and Jacob’s adoptions possible. Our Be the Reason campaign also ensured that Badger’s adoption is fully sponsored, and now both Badger and Kitsu have strong interest from potential adopters. Some of our friends even received special adoption bags sponsored by Copper Dog Realty, LLC.

This is what happens when a community shows up. Thank you for being the reason.

Each December, GrapeTree proudly honors an outstanding corporate office employee with our Eileen Lynch Outstanding Grape Award. This award honors Eileen Lynch, a beloved former Sales Account Executive at GrapeTree, who courageously battled colon cancer until her passing in July 2018. During her 15 years with the company, Eileen embodied our mission with unwavering determination and passion every single day.

Our employees are invited each year to nominate a co-worker who exemplifies Eileen’s qualities of dedication, perseverance, and commitment to GrapeTree’s mission. In 2025, we were thrilled to present this award to our Onboarding Manager, Shane Hoffman (far right).

As part of the award, recipients receive an Eileen Lynch Outstanding Grape plaque, $1,000, and an additional $1,000 donation to a charity of their choice. Shane selected the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa, which is our local animal shelter, and was able to present it to them this afternoon.

Please join us in congratulating Shane on this well-deserved recognition! His heartfelt generosity and commitment to making a difference truly exemplify the spirit of the Eileen Lynch Outstanding Grape Award.
