πŸ‘‰πŸ Pet owners, protect your furry friends from the dangers of rodenticides!

🐢🐱 These products are highly toxic to pets and can cause internal bleeding if ingested. Most rodenticides work by inhibiting the rodent’s ability to clot blood, which can also harm cats and dogs.

πŸ‘€ If you suspect your pet has ingested rat or mouse poison, watch out for symptoms such as lethargy and pale gums and contact your veterinarian immediately for treatment.

πŸ’Š Early intervention is key to a positive outcome, so be vigilant to keep your pets safe and healthy!🚫

🦠 Did you know that many heartworms are infected with a bacteria called Wolbachia, which further contributes to the inflammatory response in dogs?

😒 When heartworms die, body pieces can lodge in the vasculature, obstructing blood flow to the lungs and causing scarring in the vessels supplying lung tissue.

Over time, this can lead to heart failure. Most dogs don't exhibit symptoms in the initial stages, but as the condition worsens, they may experience coughing, panting, exercise intolerance, and weight loss. 🐢

Providing year-round heartworm prevention is an important part of your pet’s health care plan. If you would like to discuss the various preventives, contact our team by calling 570-206-9988, so we can determine what protocol would best fit you and your pet’s lifestyle.

🐢😺 Building a strong foundation for your pet's health starts with training, exercise, and play! These activities help your puppy or kitten burn energy, learn commands, and understand acceptable behavior.

🧠πŸ’ͺ Keeping your young pet mentally and physically engaged also strengthens the human-animal bond and helps prevent problem behaviors that may lead to relinquishing them to animal shelters.

πŸ‘πŸΎ Start your pet off on the right foot by incorporating plenty of training, exercise, and play into their daily routine. Need help? Call 570-206-9988 to talk to your veterinarian.

THANK YOU to everyone who made our first pet food pantry a success! πŸŽ‰
-
Friday afternoon we held our very first pet food pantry to aide families in our community who may be struggling financially in keeping their pets fed and in their homes with those who love them. The event was a huge success! We were able to help feed a total of 10 dogs and 4 cats and helped about 10 families sign up for the next pantry.
-
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible. We couldn’t have done it without our sponsors and donors, the folks over at the human food pantry across the street, for allowing us to use their space, and our staff for helping us serve our community🩡
-
Keep an eye out for our flyer with the next pantry’s information!

πŸ’“ Your pet will still be the same lovable, mischievous, devoted companion, but without the desire to search for a mate.

πŸ—πŸ₯¦ Your pet's diet is crucial to their overall health and well-being. Even though they're not chowing down on junk food like we do, what they eat and how much of it can impact their weight and risk for health problems like diabetes, hypertension, and osteoarthritis. As a pet owner, it's important to ensure that your furry friend is getting the right nutrition.

If you're unsure what the best nutritional plan is for your pet, give us a call at 570-206-9988 today!

Senior pets deserve more than reactive care. The combination of bloodwork, blood pressure monitoring, urinalysis, and targeted imaging catches developing conditions before symptoms appear, when treatment options are at their best. We break down what comprehensive senior screening actually includes, what each test reveals, and how regular monitoring helps senior pets thrive through their later years at Milford Animal Hospital.

Are You Overlooking Early Warning Signs in Your Senior Pet? The philosophy of 360-degree care becomes especially important as pets age because no single test tells the full story. Many of the most common senior health conditions develop gradually and quietly, with subtle changes that are easy to mis...

🦟 Lyme disease is a vector-borne bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. The blacklegged tick (i.e., deer tick) is the primary Lyme disease carrier, and can be found throughout many areas. The disease is transmitted when an infected blacklegged tick attaches and feeds on a warm-blooded mammal, including dogs, horses, and humans.

The bacteria enter the general circulation and trigger chronic health issues, including joint swelling and inflammation, heart damage, kidney failure, and neurologic problems. Protect your pet and yourself from this debilitating condition by contacting us at 570-206-9988. Stay informed, stay safe, and keep your furry friend healthy! 🐾
