Good job pup!

This dog accidentally ran a half marathon while out for her bathroom break, and her family wasn’t aware until she came home with a 7th place medal

We love you Zig Zag! She is the absolute sweetest girl! We miss her! We know she find her furrever home! Please donate to BARCS to help animals just like Zig Zag get there second chances!!!

In 2022 alone, BARCS treated nearly 700 animals through the Franky Fund. This would not have been possible without the growing number of veterinary hospitals we have the privilege of being partnered with. These hospitals and clinics help BARCS save the lives of thousands of emergency and specialized medical cases that come through our doors.

This week, we want to thank Liberty Animal Clinic. Countless BARCS animals have benefited from the care provided by the Liberty team. Zig Zag is just one such animal who was able to receive treatment thanks to the generosity of this amazing Franky Found partner.

Zig Zag, who had been living outdoors, came to BARCS after a concerned citizen noticed her limping in pain and alerted Baltimore City Animal Control officers. They promptly brought Zig Zag back to the shelter for evaluation. Despite no visible broken bones or bleeding wounds, our veterinary team found a femur fracture in her right hind leg, dehydration, and fleas on her coat during the examination. Although understandably in pain during the evaluation, Zig Zag remained exceptionally friendly, allowing our vet team to care for her. She was treated for the fleas and put on IV fluids to rehydrate. Due to the need for amputation surgery on her fractured leg, it was decided that transferring Zig Zag to our Franky Fund partner was the best for her crucial surgery.

The Liberty Animal Clinic team reported that despite her painful injury, Zig Zag remained friendly and sweet with their staff, just as she was at the shelter. She had a successful surgery and is now back at BARCS, where he continues to recover while awaiting a loving home of her own, where he can be a happy tripod kitty.

Thank you to Liberty Animal Clinic for all of the love and care you give to the BARCS animals who come through your doors! ❤️ 🐾

We would not be able to do what we do without them—and without YOU, our Franky Fund donors. This program relies completely on private donations. Please help us always be ready to save animals like Zig Zag by giving to our Franky Fund. You can donate on this link https://www.barcs.org/urgent-care/
