I feel so lucky to be doing my dream job and feel appreciated at the QCAWC. Being able to be a part of a community whose mission is the same as mine is something I’m so grateful for!

This is definitely my dog Toby! He'll randomly pick up my skipper and shake it around. Lightly mind you, then look at me with a silly little face. I've probably said "you goofy boy what are you doing?" In a sing song voice too many times. He'll soon release my slipper because he wants some pets! It's better than yelling and chasing him around the room and we both get what we want! 🥰

Can dogs tell jokes? Which, of course, begs the question: What IS a joke? Join the discussion of humor in dogs, inspired by a Substack interview with NY trainer Jess Erace about the jokes she thinks her dog plays. (You gotta love her phrase: “The Felony Trot.” Ha!!!)

Here’s a question for you: What would we need to see in a dog to confirm that dogs can “get the joke?” My next question is, based on a photo in this week’s blog—do you agree that Cool Hand Luke was laughing at my hair? (Even if Luke wasn’t, you can. I sure am.)

Finally got a photograph with this beautiful girl, Millie! She's been wild and crazy in the past, but her growth with being brushed, walking on leash, basic training and interacting with me and other volunteers has improved so much!

Jack and Della have been at for too long! In the past they were reactive to people and dogs but hanging out with us we are starting to see some big changes! Thanks to the best volunteers walks are getting easier for these amazing dogs! 🥰

January is National Train your Dog Month🐶
Please reach out to our clinic or to our Behaviorist Amanda if you need assistance. Training is a crucial aspect of having a dog in your life. And just like children, dogs need socialization and schooling to become well-behaved companions. Every dog—giant breeds and toys, from puppy to seniors has what it takes to learn a trick or two😊

This sweet boy is Ozzy. 💗

Ozzy is a 1-year-old Cane Corso mix who LOVES to play with toys and run around the yard. Ozzy does great on walks and is a big baby once he is comfortable with you. The key to his heart are treats - he can't get enough! Ozzy requires a dog-savvy adopter who is willing to work on training with him. Because of this, we are offering 3 free training sessions with Janette from KindK9s after adoption.

Handsome boy Royal doing so well with settle! He’s very shy at first but if you take the time to hang out with him he’s the best boy. I promise the time it takes for him to trust you is so worth it. You’ll end up with a loving playful pup! 🐾🥰

I got this shirt when I went to Victoria Stilwell Academy and never took a selfie with it. Now I’m at The Dog Behavior Conference and decided now is the time. Six years ago I graduated from VSA and I can’t believe how long it’s been! I feel so lucky to be part of an organization that is making dog training less stressful for dogs and their people.
