On our way back home to MN, we returned to the WI breeder to pick up Fuffy, a 1 yr old Maine C**n kitten who found her new home in MN. Maine C**ns don't mature until 3 yrs, so yes, she's still a kitten, just...big!
Our daughter Gabrielle is a cat fanatic, with Maine C**n as her dream breed. She worked on the day we were coming back to MN, then hung out with Grandma until we got there. She had met 2 Maine C**n babies on a previous trip. I had asked her if she would like to join us for delivery. It wouldn't be very long, but she could meet another Maine C**n. "Is that even a question?" After picking her up, we pulled into our driveway and she went into the house to get a blanket🤷♀️ Upon her return, we proceeded to get out of the van.
"What are you doing?"
"Going into the house."
"What's going on?"
"We've completed delivery. We're going into the house."
"What do you mean?"
"We've competed our delivery, we're home, and we're going into the house."
After going around with her a few times, I finally explained. Fuffy was not well cared for in a previous home. She had a litter of 9 stillborn kittens when she was only 6 months old, still a baby herself. The breeder bought her back from that family. Although females are typically smaller than their male counterparts, Fuffy would be even smaller, her growth stunted due to having a litter of kittens at such a young age. Part of the deal I made with the breeder was that we would get her to the vet soon to update her shots, and that we would stay in touch and send pics and updates.
"Are you serious? You'd better not be joking."
Fuffy now belongs to Gabrielle and is so dearly loved. Gabrielle didn't want to go to sleep that night, afraid she'd wake up and Fuffy (now Everest) wouldn't be there.
How awesome it is to be able to fulfill your child's dream!
