The schooling bannerfish is a small, colorful butterflyfish native to the Indo-Pacific, known for its long dorsal filament, social schooling behavior, and adaptability to aquariums.
Heniochus diphreutes is considered hardy and beginner-friendly. They require a large tank (125 gallons or more) with ample swimming space and stable water conditions. They are primarily planktivores, feeding on zooplankton, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, marine pellets, and algae-based foods. Feeding two to three times daily with a varied diet helps maintain health. While generally reef-safe, they may nip at soft corals or invertebrates if not well-fed
