Wanna know the truth? WHY BRUSHING MATTERS!

1. Prevention of Painful "Matting"
The Pinch Factor: Mats act like tiny, permanent knots that constantly pull on the skin. Every time the dog moves, sits, or walks, the skin is tugged, causing chronic discomfort.
• Restricted Movement: Severe matting (pelted coats) can actually act like a straitjacket, limiting a dog's range of motion and making exercise painful.

2. Skin Health and "Hot Spots"
A thick, tangled coat prevents air from reaching the skin.
• Moisture Traps: When a matted dog gets wet (from rain or dew), the moisture stays trapped against the skin for days. This dark, damp environment is a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast.
• Infection: This leads to "hot spots," sores, and fungal infections that are hidden under the fur and can become quite severe before they are even noticed.

3. Temperature Regulation
It is a common misconception that a thick coat "insulates" them against heat in all conditions.
• Airflow: A well-brushed coat allows for natural airflow across the skin, which helps the dog regulate its body temperature.
• The Felt Effect: If the coat is matted, it acts like a heavy wool blanket that traps body heat, putting the dog at a higher risk of heatstroke during the summer.

4. Early Detection of Health Issues
Brushing is your best opportunity to perform a "mini-physical" on your dog. While brushing, you are much more likely to feel:
• Lumps and Bumps: Catching a new growth early can be life-saving.
• Parasites: You’ll spot fleas, ticks, or mites much faster than you would by just looking at them.
• Sensitivity: If your dog flinches when you brush a specific area, it may indicate internal pain or a joint issue you wouldn't have known about otherwise.

5. The "Shedding" Cycle
Brushing helps distribute natural oils produced by the skin throughout the hair shaft. This keeps the coat shiny, strong, and healthy.
