💙 JETHRO UPDATE: He can hear!!
Jethro had a full medical evaluation, and this sweet boy is finally getting the care he’s been needing. He is back in his foster home, eating and resting comfortably.
Here’s what we learned:
Severe Ear Infections. His ears were extremely inflamed and plugged with debris and infection. They were cleaned and treated with long-acting medication and will need follow-up care. Could be caused by allergies.
Heart Murmur, High Blood Pressure. X-rays indicate no heart failure, which is great news. He’ll need a cardiology work-up to learn more.
Neurologic Concerns & Blindness. Jethro has a supposed history of seizures and is blind. Unknown if he had past trauma, so we’re monitoring closely for any neurologic changes and will explore further diagnostics as needed. He has not had any seizures so far.
Foreign Objects in Intestines. X-rays showed rocks and a small object. Nothing is obstructed, but he’s on GI meds while these (hopefully) pass safely.
Fleas. The wonderful staff at MAH gave him the VIP spaw treatment so he's squeaky clean, infestation cleared and started on prevention. And heartworm negative!
Through all of this, Jethro has been a good boy and grateful for the comfort and care. The goal is to get him improving. We’ll continue to monitor him and will update everyone as he progresses. 💙
Jethro’s care will involve continued exams, medications, cardiology and neurology follow-up, and long-term management of his medical needs. We appreciate everyone for their support and generosity! Thank you for giving Jethro this chance!
